🌅 🐦 Only the very early birds, and our hardworking substructure team, were on deck in the wee hours of Wednesday to witness the New Bridgewater Bridge’s final pier pour. 🌉 This major milestone marks the completion of the new bridge’s substructure, and required perseverance and motivation to achieve. Our team poured the 21st and final set of piers, ending a 15-month pier construction campaign, which included about 1200 tonnes of reinforcement steel and 4700m³ of concrete. Pier completion has improved access for those completing the segment erection and finishing activities, taking us a significant step closer to getting traffic on the new bridge in mid 2025. 📅 See more in our highlights video: https://lnkd.in/gnWSKcDP #CreativeConstruction #Tasmania #infrastructure

🛤 We've reached a significant milestone on the Inland Rail Wangaratta Works. This achievement is the result of extensive planning and preparation behind the scenes, ensuring everything runs smoothly - Well done to everyone involved! #CreativeConstruction #infrastructure #rail #RegionalVictoria
Last month, construction contractor McConnell Dowell successfully lifted the 200+ tonne Green Street bridge superstructure into place. 🛠️ Located in Wangaratta, Victoria along our Beveridge to Albury section of Inland Rail, this work in replacing the bridge and lowering the tracks underneath will allow double stacked freight trains to use the line. 🚆 Learn more about our progress in Victoria: https://lnkd.in/d3FsN_cB

More on Mardie! The 2.4km journey out to the jetty head is a memorable experience. The in-house temporary works design which supports the self-performed fabrication, installation and operation of the canti-traveler system is a testament to our creative construction brand. #CreativeConstruction #WA #Sustainability
BCI Minerals is building Australia’s first major #salt project in more than two decades on the Pilbara coast of Western Australia. It’s also expected to be the nation’s largest once it ramps up to full production, producing over 5 million tons of industrial salt a year to supply growing demand for the versatile mineral from manufacturers across Asia. Wire caught up with BCI's MD & CEO David Boshoff and CFO Stephen Fewster to find out more about the Mardie project, while Westpac relationship manager James Duncan talks about the bank's role as lead arranger of a $981 million finance facility to support the development. #criticalminerals Full story: https://lnkd.in/gfFr2uWG

We're proud to support BCI Minerals with specialist marine construction services for the Mardie Salt & Potash Project in Western Australia’s stunning Pilbara region. Our scope includes the design and construction of critical Port and Marine Structures, encompassing Structural, Mechanical & Piping systems, along with commissioning. This infrastructure is essential for BCI Minerals as they prepare to export high-quality salt from the Mardie mine site. We’ve made significant progress, completing the 2.4km approach jetty utilising our innovative in-house canti-traveller and self-propelled transporter. Notably, we achieved an impressive milestone by constructing 100 meters of the jetty within just 10 days at peak efficiency. As we look ahead to the upcoming barge construction works, we remain committed to addressing the challenges this project presents. With a focus on preserving the rich and diverse marine environment, we have taken proactive steps to minimize impacts on local fauna. This includes the engagement of permanent third-party marine fauna observers, implementation and reporting of our underwater noise management procedures, and design optimization that has successfully reduced ground disturbance by 11% during piling works. Mick Slocombe, McConnell Dowell's Western and South Australia General Manager, shared his perspective on the project: “We are not only focused on delivering high-quality infrastructure but also on ensuring that our operations respect and protect the local marine ecosystem. Our team is dedicated to achieving this balance as we advance through the project’s phases.” We eagerly anticipate the next exciting stages of the Mardie Salt & Potash Project! 🌊⚒️ #CreativeConstruction #MardieProject #BCIMinerals #Sustainability
We’re pleased to announce that BCI Minerals has achieved Financial Close for our Syndicated Facility Agreement (SFA), securing $981M in project debt finance for the salt-first component of the Mardie Project. 🌊 This milestone marks a major step forward, with construction already over 50% complete and operations underway! The SFA syndicate includes Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), Export Finance Australia, Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada, Westpac, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and demonstrates our commitment to delivering world-class sustainable salt production. With support from our partners, we are successfully executing our plan to become a major global salt supplier from Australia's largest solar salt operation, delivering 5.3 million tonnes per year of high-quality industrial salt. 💪 For more information, please see the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/eBeDCAtS #BCIMinerals #MardieProject #SustainableMining #GreenFinance #Milestone"

💧 KEEPING THE WATER FLOWING: INNOVATION WITHOUT INTERRUPTION 💧 We're thrilled to announce that together with SA Water, we’ve been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2024 Australian Water Association Water Awards South Australia in the Infrastructure Project Innovation - Regional category. This recognition highlights our innovative work on the DT-01 Victor Harbor Road Duplication - Myponga Trunk Main Replacement project. The Myponga Trunk Main Replacement Project set a new standard in the water industry. Tasked with relocating a 900 millimetre diameter trunk water main, the McConnell Dowell Diona Joint Venture (MDJV) partnered with SA Water to deliver this project with minimal disruption to the local community. Traditionally, such operations require shutting down and draining the main, requiring a temporary water outage. However, in collaboration with design partner WSP, the SA Water and MDJV teams engineered an innovative solution that used line stops and live tapping technology—methods typically used in the oil and gas sectors but applied here for the first time in South Australia on an asset of this size. The successful installation involved a Horizontal Directional Drill under the highway and testing of two new High-density polyethylene (HDPE) 710 millimetre diameter trunk mains, whilst the existing main remained online. Live taps were performed to seamlessly integrate the new mains, allowing the old main to be decommissioned. This innovative approach resulted in several benefits: - no water supply disruptions for residents, businesses or other critical services - reduced water wastage where possible - confined works to a 150-metre section - minimised open trench construction—preserving the cultural and environmental value of the land and limiting traffic disruptions on a key arterial road. This project exemplifies how techniques from other industries can be adapted to tackle the complex challenges of the water sector, achieving outstanding outcomes for SA Water, the community and the broader industry. Award winners will be announced in November! Good luck to the team in SA! #WaterIndustry #Innovation #Sustainability #Infrastructure #MDJV

The Aola Base Wharf Upgrade in Honiara, Solomon Islands is now complete! This is the tenth and final infrastructure project, delivered across nine Pacific Islands for the Pacific Maritime Security Program (PMSP) - Phase 2. Defence Australia contracted us to upgrade wharves across the Pacific, to accommodate the newly donated Guardian-class Patrol Boats (GPBs). We designed and built the wharves for the new GPBs, critical safety and security assets for the islands. “Thank you to everyone who supported us and made this achievement possible”, says Program Manager James Creech. “The collaboration, expertise, and dedication of the team has been outstanding.” #PacificMaritimeSecurityProgramme #Marineinfrastructure #MCDPacific
