Make-A-Wish® Australia creates inspirational, life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

About us

Make-A-Wish® Australia creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our mission is to grant the wish of every eligible child – a quest sparked by the belief that a wish is integral to a child’s treatment. We work in partnership with sick children, their families and medical teams to design and deliver wish experiences that are as unique as the children who imagine them. No two wishes are alike, from the simple to the seemingly impossible – we’ve made unicorns fly, sent kids to the moon and even helped Australia’s youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green. Wishes transform the lives of sick kids, their families and communities. Research shows that wishes work to complement medical treatment, helping to calm, distract and empower sick kids at the time they need it most. When a wish is realised, a child discovers that despite their situation, anything is possible. Make-A-Wish is one of Australia’s most trusted charities and part of largest wish-granting organisation in the world. As a registered Australian charity, we rely completely on the generosity of our volunteers, partners, donors and supporters to make the impossible possible for seriously ill children in Australia. Karter is a really special wish kid - kind, caring and very charismatic! Despite the many challenges life throws at them, Karter’s family’s dedication to his happiness shines through in every aspect of their lives. His siblings, Chase and Havana, adore him, and his mum, Jess, describes the children as ‘little carers for Karter too’. "They're very caring - especially Chase with their twin bond. He's always worrying about what Karter's doing, making sure he's included and making sure he’s included. You never know if you're doing parenting right, but I think that's one thing I did get right is that family comes first and there's a lot of love." Jess, told us. This National Carers Week, we celebrate Jess and her family - and the thousands of carers like her who provide incredible care and love to children across Australia. You're an absolute inspiration 💙 Read more about Karter’s wish experience: https://lnkd.in/gZreVAUm

Quinn is no ordinary 6-year-old. Born 11 weeks early and diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just four years old, Quinn has faced challenges that would test even the strongest adults. Yet, she radiates joy and kindness, with a heart as big as her imagination. With that imagination, Quinn has wished to fly with a unicorn! 🦄 The Cheesecake Shop has partnered with Make-A-Wish Australia to create tokens and Unicorn Cupcakes (designed by Quinn herself), with proceeds going directly to Make-A-Wish. Each token and cupcake purchase brings Quinn one step closer to her wish this November —just like the small acts of kindness Quinn herself is known for, like offering tissues when she sees someone crying 💙 By buying a Unicorn Cupcake at The Cheesecake Shop, you’re not just treating yourself – but you’re helping to make Quinn’s wish come true 🧁 Find a unicorn cupcake near you: https://maw.org.au/3zOsSWX

Say Hey, Hi, Hello to Tianna's wish! After growing up watching Georgia Productions on YouTube, 16-year-old Tianna always knew her one true wish would be to meet her favourite YouTube star. Tianna loves being active, and before her diagnosis with acute myeloid leukaemia, she was very involved with gymnastics and cheerleading. So, for her wish, Tianna and Georgia spent the morning at Springloaded trampoline park, bouncing around and chatting. Their ride of course, was a limousine, where the girls were chauffeured out to lunch to celebrate Tianna's 16th Birthday, which had just happened the day before! Tianna's Mum Andrea said the day was perfect! "Everything and everyone was perfect 👌 We had a lovely time. Tianna had a wonderful day with Georgia and she was everything she thought she would be," said Andrea. "A huge thank you! We really do appreciate everything that Make-A-Wish has done for Tianna and us as a family.”

Although 12-year-old Sierra has a deep fondness of horses, she carries a bright and passionate flame for animals of all kinds, which is evident from her caring and gentle nature, and the way that she cares for her own pets at home. This is why she wished 'to have an awesome animal experience on my family holiday'.⭐ Sierra was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia but loves being out in nature and doing “fun” things. In Exmouth (a small resort town on Western Australia’s North West Cape), Sierra made life-long memories, snorkeling with turtles and whale sharks, and riding camels and horses. 🏇 Sierra wrote us a lovely message after returning from her wish, "Thank you for sending me on so many cool and exciting experiences.” We’ve included a photo of her heart-warming letter in full. 💙
