7 ads on SEEK x 7 agencies, all for the same job with the same company = crazy! Even worse, it is quite a niche role and as such an ad will just attract the same pool of candidates. Just to be clear, I am NOT advertising this role. I have a very similar role in the same location, and when doing my research prior to advertising noticed all of these identical ads. I literally wanted to write on my ad… “Not the same job as the other 7 listed” This is one of the many reasons I choose to only work on jobs exclusively. Putting your role out to that many agencies won’t give you a better outcome, however it will result in people NOT giving your job the time and attention it may deserve. (particularly when five of the ads are straight copy and pastes from the company’s job description word for word) As a candidate – ➡ Do you pick one agency to apply to hoping that one gets back to you? ➡ Do you apply to them all? OR, ➡ Do you put it in the too hard basket and apply to none of them? (the latter is probably what I would choose to do) ➡ What happens if you apply to multiple and they all say they are going to put you forward? Who do you choose? What happens then? As a company – ❓Is your job being showcased effectively? ❓ Are candidates going to take your role seriously? ❓ Is this damaging your brand? ❓ Are those agencies going to give it the time it deserves once they realise you’ve put them in a “resume lottery” ❓ What happens when you get the same resume from multiple agencies? In my business, I choose to only work on a role if no other agency is working on it and the company doesn’t have it listed themselves. Why? There are several reasons…. From my perspective, as a business owner, I know I will actually get paid for my time and efforts when I take on a role. From a client company perspective, the client can rest assured I will dedicate the time to undertake the best recruitment process possible and get the right outcome for the company, as ultimately that is what they are paying me to do. (not be involved in a race to throw a bunch of resumes at them) From a candidate perspective, you know if I’m putting your forward for a role that it is solely listed with me. You are not going to lose out in an “agency lottery” by having applied for this role. I will be able to give accurate feedback as to where you sit on a shortlist, why you have or haven’t been selected for an interview and be able to keep the process moving. I’m still shaking my head about all those ads for the one job…. It just defies logic.
