This morning, over 250 Chevron employees gathered on the Level 3 terrace for the Chevron Veterans Network's bacon and egg breakfast appeal supporting Legacy WA. Attendees enjoyed breakfast burgers while listening to Legacy WA President Stephen Stoll and CEO Allison Stephens GAICD, who shared Legacy's mission of supporting veterans' families. With over 60 Legacy teddy bears sold and additional donations collected, the event's contributions will go directly to Legacy's programs, providing financial aid, social connection, and educational opportunities for veterans' families. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, which is an important day following the release of the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. This report provides important insights and recommendations that are critical to the health and wellbeing of veterans and their families moving forward. Legacy is hopeful the report will open up significant opportunities to better support veterans and their families pre- and post-discharge with the aim of reducing rates of suicide in our community. We would like to acknowledge those families that have experienced suicide first-hand and send out a message of hope and support. Legacy Week Street Appeal was a huge success despite the rainy weather! Our dedicated Legacy community came together in full force. We were thrilled to have a Bushmaster on display and committed service men and women patrolling the streets, all contributing to a remarkable fundraising effort for Legacy WA.   This year’s appeal was further enhanced by some special guests. We were excited to have Lumen Christi College join us, actively participating in our fundraising activities by patrolling the mall, selling merchandise, and collecting essential funds. Additionally, the presence of two members of the 10th Light Horse Troop from Rockingham who captivated the crowds and significantly boosted our fundraising efforts for Legacy. We raised a very successful $18,090 on the day!   As always, this wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our Legacy volunteers and staff.
