Has *anyone* ever told you that you can always tell them the truth and no matter what, they will support you, but you both know that’s a total lie? Have *you* ever had to tell 8% of your user base that you are depreciating a feature? Well in this week's #arc update @thebrowsercompany did just that. Well actually they told their users that and that phase 1 of unshipping will begin. I don't use arc notes, so this doesn't impact me, and that's probably because I'm in the 92% of users who don't use notes. So I'm stoked that Arc are not just a team that adds solutions, they take them away if they don't work. Arc have also worked really hard on being open from the outset and not just in Product, but in things like their internal meetings and so on. This approach clearly can't work for all companies on the comms front but opening up to your users about features that just aren't cutting it might be a relief for both sides. QUESTION When was the last time you had a product conversation around removing an already live part of your solution?

Happy #taytay has arrived in #melbourne day! In other news you're about to #save your for #commonsave post. What's a #commonsave? You probably didn't ask, but I'm going to tell you anyway! When you see the common save shortcut in the bottom right of a post, it means it's worth opening the three dots on this post and then selecting save(which has a bookmark icon, but one thing at a time Linkedin). Links in the comments, you're all set! Now you just have to remember to go back into your bookmarked saved posts. 🤣

It's going to take a while for us to get to know each other, because that's just how trust goes right? When Ivory Common slid into your 'feed' (not actually sure what linkedin calls it), you probably thought, weird logo Ash. Let me know if you want to hear that story. I digress, my points in sharing Mitch King's post below include: I like what Mitch shares because it is a little cynical, but realistic. His points are sensible, coherent and efficient. Spending time with Mitch in person is great. All of this to say, #ivorycommon has a principle of supporting this type of conversation. Mitch's call to action is sympathy from you in the form of candidates, which let's be real is a great way to show sympathy, you can be self involved and serve Mitch. In a strictly serious tone though, Justin and the team from EVP are also great partners, so this is a wonderful opportunity. #winwin

“Did you have a good break?” This will be a common conversation starter for the next month and I’m going to say “yeah it was great, how about yours?”. But the truth is mine wasn’t great. We found a leak in a pipe just before Christmas - $700 to fix that. The water bill also just came - $800 😞 Then a storm hit Christmas night and we lost power for five days and I’ve got a $2k arborist bill to get rid of a massive tree in our yard. So the Xmas leftovers didn’t make it to Boxing Day, RIP those prawns and that ham I planned on overdosing on. That also took out my NBN which is still out, a few calls and technician visits and we’re no closer to service. The backup 5g modem from Telstra was shipped with a fault, so my phone hotspot is all we have. Then last week I got a strong dose of Covid. And I haven’t even told you the worst thing that happened. The Inlaws came for 2 weeks. There’s little point to this post other than for me to have a whinge but I also thought it was better to say this once and then give a more positive, generic answer every other time. But if you do feel sorry for me, I’ll take your sympathy in the form of candidates: - Melbourne based Media Account Managers - Sydney based Staff Engineers,Marketing Science Partners, Head of Engineering & Data Engineers. Roles in NYC coming soon too 🗽 Mutinex’s 2024 is looking better than my Xmas break, that’s for sure.
