Hear from Julia Leske, managing director and senior consultant in ESG strategy at ISS ESG, who recently joined FS Sustainability’s podcast alongside host Rose Mary Petrass to discuss screening and controversies. Learn more about the episode and access it below… #Sustainability #ESG #Investors
"There may be an argument that some funds say, 'We do, in principle, support defense investments as a right of a country to defend itself, but we draw the line at certain types of weaponry.’ “These are what is captured under the catch-all phrase of ‘controversial weapons,’ which are typically those weapons that would kill civilians in an indiscriminate way.” In this week's episode, Julia Leske, managing director and senior consultant in ESG strategy at ISS ESG joins host Rose Mary Petrass to discuss screening and controversies. When investors want to avoid specific activities in their portfolio – like weapons, tobacco, gambling, fossil fuels, or adult entertainment – they turn to ESG screening. But what happens behind the scenes when fund managers make these crucial decisions? Are all ESG funds created equal? And how can an investor be sure their money isn’t inadvertently supporting sectors they wish to avoid? Julia sheds light on how ESG professionals navigate the fine lines in screening and controversies – from vapes to toilet paper and beyond. https://lnkd.in/g3YMgyqR
