Last week staff from the ILSC came together with over 600 Indigenous leaders on Larrakia Country for the First Nations Land and Water Management Forum Dangkal Gwo’yal-wa 2024. The Dangkal Gwo’yal-wa went beyond the exchange of techniques and strategies; it was about nurturing cultures, ensuring the wisdom of ancestors and Elders endured, and highlighted the pivotal role of Indigenous leadership in managing Country and addressing challenges of climate change. This forum underscored the necessity of Indigenous-led initiatives and the importance of amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and leadership.
