In recognition of International Day of Medical Physics we're highlighting the role of medical physics in advancing radiotherapy and celebrating the medical physicists who make it possible. Icon is proud to congratulate consulting Medical Oncologist, A/Prof Louise Nott on being nominated in the 2025 Australian of the Year Awards for Tasmania. A pioneering oncologist and advocate for treatment equity, Louise has dedicated her career to ensuring cancer patients in Tasmania receive the same access to care and treatment innovations as those on the mainland. In 2021, she helped establish a comprehensive research and clinical trials program at Icon Cancer Centre Hobart and since then, the centre has offered over 20 clinical trials to more than 100 public and private patients. Last week at Cancer Centre London, Icon Cancer Centre - United Kingdom hosted a workshop to discuss the future of theranostics in oncology and haematology management, and Icon's expanding research capabilities across our global footprint. Key Icon presenters included our UK Chief Clinical Strategy Officer, Dr Penny Kechagioglou, and leaders who were visiting from Australia – Group Director Molecular Oncology Julie Crouch, Clinical Director, Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Oncology (Asia Pacific) Dr Nat Lenzo, and Group Executive Manager Research, Sophie Mepham PhD. On Saturday Icon Cancer Centre - Australia & New Zealand held our sixth annual Women in Medicine event in Brisbane at the State Library of Queensland. The event provides an opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of the women across our clinical network and recognise their commitment to exceptional cancer care. Icon Group were proud to be a silver sponsor for STRYDE 4 Day in support of Can Assist: Cancer Patients' Assistance Society of NSW, a cancer charity helping patients access the care they need. On Thursday 24 October our Icon Cancer Centre - Australia & New Zealand, Slade Pharmacy and Epic Pharmacy teams in New South Wales and Canberra joined thousands of walkers and participated both virtually and live in the 10km walk from Bondi Beach to Maroubra. Can Assist’s mission is to make sure every person across country NSW can access cancer treatment and care. They provide financial help and practical support to help patients, while also shining a light on the distance challenges facing families living outside metropolitan areas. So far, Can Assist has raised over $75,000 with donations open for another week.
