We loved this time-lapse of the recently completed works at Eric Boardman Memorial Reserve so much we had to share it with you! We invested over $3 million along with the State Government to install a brand new athletics facility which will serve the Sunbury community for years to come. The works involved: 🎽 converting the existing grass track to a new 400m long synthetic track 💡 improving lighting within the area 🔨 building new shelters for athletes and spectators ⛓️ installing new chainmesh fencing, including pedestrian gate access 🌧️ installing new sub-surface drainage and irrigation systems for the new turf. This facility was completed in June of this year and is just one of the many major capital works projects taking place in our municipality. Hume City Council is excited to announce that AFL Max is coming to Hume City mid-2025! 🎉🎉 The custom-built facility will be the first of its kind in Victoria, and will add to the already stacked landscape of tourism attractions and leisure venues near Melbourne Airport, alongside Australia’s first surf park URBNSURF and the Essendon Football Club. AFL Max uses the fundamental skills of footy to blend play, education, skill development, fun and entertainment for families, schools, sporting clubs and corporate teams, with state-of-the-art facilities including: 🏉 trampolines 🏉 climbing walls 🏉 inflatables 🏉 skill zones 🏉 interactive screens 🏉 and a cafe! The venue will form part of Hume’s growing visitor economy, which is one of Hume’s largest economic drivers (over $7 billion), employing over 12,000 people. The introduction of this unique venue is expected to attract an annual visitation of up to 200,000 people and will further position Hume as a tourism destination with unique experiences for both locals and visitors alike!
