With more people moving to electric vehicles every year, it's great to see another 'first' for EVs and show that the transition to low-carbon transport is reaching new places and proving that they can compete with traditional vehicles. And on today being World EV day, its not only a the regular sized cars, but electric trucks showing that raising awareness of EVs comes in new shapes and sizes. Its drivers like Jon Edwards and his team who are showing that it's possible for not only cars but also trucks to travel around Australia and visit every capital city, all powered by 100% electricity. After leaving last week from Perth, the truck is going to take about 30 days to complete the trip. With more projects like the WA EV Network installing the critical fast charging in locations that are within 200km of each other, the Mighty Truck is able to use a combination of public charging stations and a portable EV charger to be able to travel the distance finding a charger is close enough by top up. The 7,000km Network will stretch from Kununurra in the north east, to Albany in the south and out to the Nullarbor. And with more of the network completed each month this year, more of WA will be opened up to EVs than ever before. Check out Jon's trip in real-time https://lnkd.in/g6YkqRT7 Find out more about the WA EV Network https://bit.ly/44EaBFw #worldevday #waevnetwork

🩸 Saving Lives with Horizon Power Lifeblood Team 🩸 We’re thrilled to share that the Horizon Power Lifeblood Team has once again stepped up in response to last week’s urgent call for blood donors from the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood! 5 dedicated volunteers from Horizon Power joined forces in this life-saving mission. This year alone, our collective efforts have resulted in an incredible milestone – together we’ve saved 138 lives! It’s more than just a number; it’s a testament to our commitment to making a difference. Here’s what some of our amazing donors had to say: • “I’m grateful for HP’s support. After my dad’s emergency surgery required transfusion, I understand the importance of giving back.” • “Blood donation has such an impactful ripple effect on our community – let’s keep rallying!” • “It was seamless – something I’ve wanted to do finally happened.” • “Horizon Power isn’t just about power; it’s about empowering our community through action.” • “The group dynamic made donating so much easier.” We’re proud not only of these acts of kindness but also of fostering a culture where giving back is part of who we are at Horizon Power. Let’s continue this journey together – your drop can be someone’s hope! #HorizonPower #LifebloodTeam #CommunityImpact #BloodDonation #SaveLive

🚀 Exciting Developments in Customer-Led Decarbonisation! 🚀 Our CEO, Stephanie Unwin, recently shared some inspiring insights at the Energy in WA conference. She highlighted the importance of optimizing our distribution system to support the energy transition. It's not just about large-scale projects; it's about empowering our customers with energy resources like rooftop solar, batteries, electric vehicles, and smart appliances. By integrating these resources seamlessly with our electricity networks, we can provide clean energy, enhance customer choice, and reduce power bills. Our customers are already making a significant impact by contributing safe, reliable, green energy back into the grid through excess rooftop solar. We're on a fast track towards a decentralized, distributed energy future. As rooftop solar adoption grows and household batteries and electric vehicle-to-grid charging become more prevalent, customers will have even more control over their energy use. A big thank you to the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) - Perth and Energy Policy WA for hosting such an insightful conference. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our vision and plans for the future of energy in Western Australia. #EnergyInnovation #SustainableEnergy #CustomerEmpowerment #GreenFuture

Chief Executive Officer at Horizon Power

On Friday I presented on customer-led decarbonisation at the Energy in WA conference. This was a great opportunity to talk about where we’re at in the energy transition. Delivering the energy transition is not just about building large transmission and generation projects. We need to optimise our distribution system. By working with customers to enable customer energy resources like rooftop solar, batteries, electric vehicles and smart appliances to work seamlessly with our electricity networks, we can deliver clean energy, offer greater customer choice and put downward pressure on power bills. Our customers are already playing a key role in delivering safe, reliable, green energy back into our grids through excess rooftop solar. We’re continuing to accelerate towards a more decentralised, distributed energy future, where customers have even more choice and control over their energy use as rooftop solar increases, and household batteries and electric vehicle-to-grid charging is incorporated into power systems. Thanks to the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) - Perth and Energy Policy WA for hosting such an insightful conference and bringing the WA energy industry together to share our vision and plans for the future of energy in the State. #energyinwa #energyweek #energytransition #decarbonisation #CER
