With upcoming VCE Revision Lectures across Victoria, the Education Department's Student Resource Package — Targeted Initiatives offers rural and regional students an excellent opportunity to participate in and benefit from these valuable sessions. "The VCE Revision Lectures initiative recognises that rural and regional students face unique barriers in attending VCE revision lectures due to additional travel and accommodation costs. Targeted funding is available to support rural and regional students from government schools to access VCE revision lectures and other exam revision supports across Victoria. Eligibility Funding for VCE revision support is only available to rural and regional government schools with senior secondary graded enrolments (Year 11 and Year 12). Eligibility is determined using data from the February School Census. The VCE Revision Lectures initiative defines rural and regional government schools as those in Local Government Areas (LGAs) outside of the metropolitan LGAs. Rural and regional LGAs are aligned with the following department Areas: Mallee, Loddon Campaspe, Central Highlands, Wimmera South-West, Barwon, Ovens Murray, Goulburn, Inner Gippsland and Outer Gippsland. Secondary and primary/secondary combined schools in these areas are eligible for funding." 🍵 Please share with your networks. 🔗 To learn more, click here: https://lnkd.in/g-ZhvC4u 📨 For more information about the initiative, contact: [email protected] Department of Education #VictorianStudents #students #student #teacher #teachers #teaching #TeacherLife #learning #school #schools #education #educational #educators #classroom #independentschools #event #history #schoolleaders

❓Are you a historian who could write on topics in the History curriculum?❓ Keep reading 👇 👇👇 #learning #school #schools #education #educational #educators #classroom #independentschools #history #pedagogy #networking #event #content #learninganddevelopment #professionaldevelopment #university #academia #careerdevelopment
I’m putting together an issue of Agora focusing on the investigation ‘Australians at War (1914–1945)’. I’m hoping to make contact with any historians who could write on topics in the History curriculum such as: • different interpretations and debates about the significance and legacies of the world wars • comparing and contrasting the reasons for Australia’s involvement in WWI and WWII • the roles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service personnel during WWI and WWII (including government policies) • comparing and contrasting the different experiences of combat between 1914 and 1945 • significant consequences of the world wars on Australian society. This could include: — experiences and historical perspectives of Australians on the home front; — the impact and legacy of the wars on the national economy (e.g. industrial and military development); — changing government immigration policies and public attitudes to migrants; — changing attitudes to Australia’s involvement in war (e.g. nationalism and internationalism); — continuity and change in beliefs and values that have influenced the Australian way of life. I’m looking for 1500–2000 words by November, and can be reached at [email protected] Please repost to your networks. 📢 History Teaching Masterclass: Every Teacher and Student Can Understand Historical Interpretations!📢 Working with historical interpretations is not about inserting ‘quotes’ into an essay. It is about understanding why two historians can examine the same event or even the same source and draw different meanings from it. To illustrate this in a memorable way, HTAV has invited two historians to discuss a single source. They will talk about the prior knowledge, interests and beliefs they brought to reading the source, and explain the basis of their agreements and disagreements about what it says and why it is historically significant. They will also discuss how the process of ‘contesting historical interpretations’ is understood by historians, and the importance of respectful discussions with people who disagree with us. The primary source will be Australian, but the discussion will provide insights for all History teachers and students and will model a feisty difference of interpretation grounded in respect and evidence. 🗓 Thursday 24 October 2024 ⏲ 4.00 pm – 4.45 pm 🌐 Online via Zoom 🔗 To register and find out more, click here: https://lnkd.in/g5-d7qHQ 🔏 Registrations close Monday, 21 October 2024 #teacher #teachers #teaching #TeacherLife #learning #school #schools #education #educational #educators #classroom #independentschools #history #schoolleaders #pedagogy #networking #event #content #learninganddevelopment #professionaldevelopment https://lnkd.in/g5-d7qHQ
