Two Excursions in Two Weeks! Today, our 1st Year VETDSS Engineering students had the incredible opportunity to tour the facilities of Hardman Bros and R & I Instrument & Gear Co (Aust) Pty Ltd, hosted by the wonderful Sam Alexander and his team. The engaging and insightful tour provided a firsthand look into the exciting world of manufacturing in both machining and fabrication. We need more young people to consider a career in manufacturing, and experiences like these are essential in sparking that interest. A special highlight was seeing Chisholm Alumni Eli, a former apprentice of our teacher Gabriel Sitaru, hard at work! Happy Friday 👨🔧 Great to get out to site today and catch up with Andrew. Andrew 3rd year apprentice was unfortunately made redundant at his employer. Upon connecting and getting to know his background, I spoke with our customer Hardman Bros about his skill set and background and although they were not actively looking to take on an apprentice they were happy to meet with Andrew. After meeting with Andrew they were happy to offer him a position and take him on as an apprentice. Now couple months later he has settled into the role well and is happy and thankful for the opportunity.
