On Saturday we hosted the first annual meeting of our new Customer Accountability Panel. There were laughs, there was excitement and energy in the room, there were great activity sessions and most importantly of all, we got to hear what our customers really want from us. The panel is a representative group of customers from right across our service area and will provide feedback on our performance on delivering our services and projects commitments under our Price Plan 2023-28. They’ll also help us shape some of our customer-focused initiatives that will be launched over the next couple of years. Key to the discussions were our suite of initiatives under our Customer Led Program – something that was including in our Price Plan following deep engagement with our customers on what they wanted to see us invest in over the next five years. These projects will see us contribute to building regional leadership and community support in ways that will benefit our customers and community, and help us prepare for times of challenge and change. Managing Director Steve Capewell said the panel was key to ensuring customer voices continued to be at the centre of what GVW delivers and for future planning. “The group has already taken really great steps towards helping us confirm our direction and put a customer lens over our proposals to make sure our projects reflect the priorities of customers," he said. “It was wonderful to have a group of passionate and vocal customers in the room, to hear their thoughts and we look forward to continuing to work with them over coming years.” We’ll have more from the CAP and our first year of our Price Plan on our website in coming weeks. #customerengagement #communitysupport #regionalleadership #customervoice #servicedelivery #customeraccoutability #customerpanel #customerfeedback

Congratulations to our Goulburn Valley Water presenters and panellists, including: 🌱 Kirsten Hogan, who presented on the success of a project in Kilmore to use riparian protection to offset treated wastewater discharge, five years since it was implemented ♻️ Rodrigo Marquina, who presented on an innovative trial to repurpose alum sludge in road construction at one of our facilities 💧 Mark Mitchell - RPGeo Hydrogeology who spoke about our experience in our 'twinning' partnership with Solomon Water in panel discussing the impact of climate change on our communities and our regional neighbors, and how we can improve resilience and water security. We can't wait for OzWater25, thanks to the Australian Water Association for having us!

On Wednesday we were thrilled to officially launch Gawarn Baring, a collaboration between us, Taungurung Land & Waters Council, Biik Cultural Land Management and Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Gawarn Baring (meaning Echidna Track in Taungurung language) is a natural earth 5km return track through the stunning Falls Creek footprint, linking up with the historic Trawool Reservoir. The project was officially launched by Board Director Tammy Atkins FAICD and DEECA Acting Executive Director Catchments, Waterways, Cities and Towns Lisa Lowe, with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony by Taungurung Elder Uncle Mick Harding. The day finished by walking the track to the Trawool Reservoir, where Victorian Fisheries Authority released more than 7000 silver and golden perch for recreational fishing, chosen as native species and suited to the area. As part of the Gawarn Baring project, two new fishing platforms upcycled from a works barge have been installed to give anglers easy and safe access for fishing. GVW Managing Director Steve Capewell said Gawarn Baring showcased what could be achieved by designing a project around outcomes that will leave a lasting legacy for the region and communities. "Finding new and innovative ways to encourage people to get active in our area, while also transforming an unused water reservoir into a new destination in regional Victoria, is a fantastic outcome,” he said. Project director Steven Nash said a partnership approach was the key to the success of the project, which has created a truly unique opportunity to encourage more people to discover a hidden gem in the walking track and reservoir. "Gawarn Baring shows how we can reimagine unused water assets to improve liveability for people in our region, and create ongoing benefits for so many," he said.
