At GLIDE we teach students how to think for the 21st century

About us

The GLIDE Method is a new educational paradigm that seeks to build on what we have learned about education. It will incorporate the best elements of the past with the most important developments of today and of the near future. GLIDE will introduce the concept of “learning while moving”, student self-awareness and societal consciousness among other innovative concepts. It will help educate children in a more relevant and research-based way, with a focus on practical lessons, to create the citizens of the future with the greatest fulfilled potential. In GLIDE, we aim not only to have our students understand their potential, but expand far beyond it. GLIDE is an acronym for Generating Lifelong Interest in Deeper Education - and that is exactly what we are trying to foster in these classes. The GLIDE Method also focuses on teaching practical real life information that the current educational system is blind to. Critical information such as how the financial system works, what credit scores are and how to maximise them, how students can understand their own and other people's psychology are just some of the elements of real life learning that are incorporated into GLIDE. This knowledge is often critical information for a functioning adult in today’s society. Knowledge has undergone many levels of development in the last 3000 years, in many different parts of the planet, and we should seek to incorporate as much of that as is possible. As the great scientist Sir Isaac Newton said in 1675 in a letter to Robert Hooke, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” We believe it is important to understand and appreciate who these giants are, so students can develop a deep understanding for the process humanity went through to acquire the knowledge in the world today. For that reason, GLIDE lessons always connect with an important historical figure that was relevant to developing the foundational knowledge of what they are being taught.

As parents, we often compare our school days to our children's current educational experiences. 🏫 With 92% of parents feeling that today's education system falls short of the quality they received, let's explore the key factors behind this perception. 1. Standardized Testing 📝: Modern education emphasizes high-stakes tests, narrowing the curriculum and stressing students. 2. Reduced Creativity 🎨: Some parents see a decline in creativity due to rote memorization and uniform teaching methods. 3. Technology Concerns 📱: Excessive screen time, social media distractions, and technology dependence raise worries. 4. Parental Involvement 🤝: Parents today are expected to be more engaged, which may create a sense of disconnection. 5. Curriculum Changes 📚: Evolving standards introduce new subjects and methods, causing unfamiliarity. 6. Bureaucracy & Funding Issues 📑💰: Administrative burdens and resource disparities affect the quality of education. It's important to note that these concerns don't apply universally. The education landscape is diverse, with both positive and negative changes. In conclusion, the perception of the modern education system as "worse" is subjective. To bridge the gap, constructive dialogue and open communication between educators, parents, and students are vital. 💬👥 What are your thoughts on this topic, and how can we work together to ensure quality education for the next generation? https://lnkd.in/d7w4uGdv 🌟 The Power of Role Models in Academic Success 📚 Role models are like guiding stars in a child's educational journey, shaping their aspirations and motivation. In our latest blog post, we explore the profound impact of academic role models on a child's learning experience. ✨ Inspiration and Aspiration: Role models inspire children to dream big and aim high, igniting their own aspirations for academic success. 🤝 Guidance and Mentorship: Academic role models serve as mentors, offering valuable guidance and support, helping students navigate challenges, and stay focused on their studies. 💪 Confidence and Self-Belief: Interacting with academic role models who have achieved success boosts a child's self-confidence, making them believe in their own abilities. 🌍 Exposure to Possibilities: Role models introduce children to a world of possibilities, broadening their horizons and motivating them to explore different academic paths. But what happens when these role models are absent? We also address the challenges this absence can bring, including a lack of motivation, limited perspectives, and self-doubt. The good news is that there are strategies to bridge this gap: 1️⃣ Introduce Diverse Role Models: Share stories of individuals who have overcome adversity or excelled in various fields. 2️⃣ Community Involvement: Connect with local professionals who can serve as role models and inspire students. 3️⃣ Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs to provide guidance and support. 4️⃣ Online Resources: Utilize online platforms to expose children to role models in different academic disciplines. 5️⃣ Parental Involvement: Parents can actively engage in their educational pursuits, serving as academic role models themselves. 6️⃣ Promote Career Exploration: Encourage exploration of various careers and educational paths through field trips, career fairs, and internships. Empowering children to believe in themselves and their academic potential is a collective effort. Let's ensure that every child has access to the inspiration and guidance they need for academic success and a bright future! 🌟📖 #AcademicSuccess #RoleModels #EducationMatters
