Developing future leaders and creating opportunities for our industry to connect and share learnings is why we sponsor the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) RISE Mentoring program. Last night we invited current and past members of the ISC RISE mentoring program to attend a networking event in Melbourne. The conversation was both intimate and compelling as our Head of Environment and Sustainability Hayley Young, joined a panel of inspiring and dynamic leaders Poppy Coleman, Muhammad Ali, and Alexandra Monson to share their views on leadership, personal development and how to navigate a career in sustainability. Gamuda's Sustainability Advisor Yan Weng Szeto also did a fantastic job of moderating the panel discussion. Thank you to Arcadis for hosting the event. We look forward to continuing our partnership with ISC as the RISE mentoring program continues to grow. #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #RISE #Mentorship #Sustainability

📣 Another milestone for our team! The mega “Super-T” girders you see in the video below are the first to be installed on our M1 Extension Black Hill to Tomago project. A total of nine bridge girders were placed over the rail line while it was closed for track maintenance during a weekend in early August. The girder installation marks a crucial step in the construction of the 2.6km viaduct spanning the Hunter River and surrounding floodplain, the Main North Rail Line and New England Highway. The concrete girders, which weigh about 105 tonnes each and are more than 40 metres long, were cast locally in Teralba and delivered on oversized vehicles in the weeks preceding their installation. #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery Transport for NSW John Holland #Construction Gamuda Australia Dean Tauasa

📣 Double Milestone alert! It was great to have NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen visit to celebrate major tunnelling progress on our Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package project – with both our Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) completing their first leg of tunnelling and arriving at Sydney Olympic Park. This marks Gamuda's first TBM breakthroughs in Australia! TBMs Betty and Dorothy are Australia’s first autonomous TBMs, installed with artificial intelligence software capable of steering, operating and monitoring these impressive machines. To complete the journey, the 1,200-tonne TBMs excavated approximately 857,500 tonnes of material – equivalent to nearly 156 Olympic-sized pools – and installed over 32,600 concrete precast segments to line the new twin tunnel walls. The Gamuda and Laing O'Rourke Consortium partnered with Boral to develop the innovative new concrete mix which features 49.4% granulated blast furnace slag cement to produce the segments. The lower upfront carbon concrete mix will eliminate approximately 14,000 tonnes of CO2 in production on the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package. Over the coming months, the TBMs will be disassembled at Sydney Olympic Park, lifted out of the station box and transported on trucks back to Clyde, where they will be soon relaunched in the opposite direction towards Westmead. #Gamuda #gamudaaustralia #SydneyMetro #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #TBM #Breakthrough #Construction Gamuda Australia GAMUDA

👀 Look at these impressive mega steel trusses that will form the new Luke Bowen pedestrian bridge at Korora on the Coffs Harbour bypass project. Three steel trusses will become part of the landmark structure, including a 60-metre-long main span steel truss which will sit across four lanes of traffic of the Pacific Highway and four lanes of local roads. The new Luke Bowen pedestrian bridge will replace the existing bridge and is expected to be the first part of the Coffs Harbour bypass to be open in early 2025 and be fully operational for its ultimate use. Due to their size and length, the trusses are delivered separately and then ‘stitched’ together onsite before being lifted into place. There is significant planning currently underway to organise the complex operation to lift the main span into place. The main span lift will involve using a 700-tonne crane with a very long boom and a team of experts working overnight to finish before traffic volumes start to increase again in the morning. #Gamuda #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #CoffsHarbourBypass Transport for NSW Ferrovial #Construction

That’s a wrap on our 2023 Gamuda Graduate Program🧑🎓 Congratulations to our inaugural cohort, who have now completed the first Gamuda Graduate Program and have progressed into their new roles. The 18-month development program gave our graduates a taste of various roles within the construction industry across disciplines including civil & mechanical engineering, environment & sustainability, and communications, with placements across three mega-projects in NSW. Building careers with purpose was a major theme throughout the program and one of the biggest highlights was Gamuda’s first ever social impact project – where graduates partnered with the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) to build and install new habitats for wildlife and regenerated local flora and fauna at Agnes Bushlands in Western Sydney. In partnership with Engineering Education Australia who delivered the educational component, the program aims to bridge the gap between university studies and the skills required in the workplace. The partnership connects the graduates with @Engineers Australia at the start of their careers, exposing them to professional, industry-specific learning, immediate support, and a multitude of networks to become efficient and effective engineering professionals. Gamuda’s Head of Human Resources Sianne Bennett said, “The Gamuda team has been thrilled to witness the incredible professional and personal growth of each of our graduates. We wish our graduates every success in their career with Gamuda!” Find out more about our graduate program here: https://lnkd.in/g9mb4rpu #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #GraduateProgram #Careers Rebekah Pluijmers Carly Allen Adrian Donohue

Originally from Ireland, Charlie Haire, Energy & Water Advisor started his career in engineering and construction in the UK before feeling the call to travel overseas. Landing in Australia and frustrated by wasted hours sending out his resume, he almost turned back before some sage advice from a complete stranger to “just visit some local construction sites”. The next day he visited three and was offered jobs at all three, and in doing so learnt the importance of face-to-face connection with people. Now, 25 years later, Charlie has worked on complex linear infrastructure projects across the utility and civil sectors in Australia, completed his MBA and is now working at Gamuda to progress its energy strategy. “It all comes down to having a clear strategy with people at its heart,” he says. “People are everything and having the right team and relationships is essential and I’m excited to be working with Gamuda and the team to build our energy business from the ground up.” #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #RenewableEnergy

As an electrical engineer, Amir Jesmi, Engineering Director, understands too well that new technology can often be polarising, particularly without proper education and understanding. It’s a dilemma that Amir is familiar with, having worked extensively for the last 24 years in Australia and internationally, in his expert field of power generation and transmission design and construction. “In reality, many things aren't purely good or bad; they have both advantages and disadvantages,” he says. “When we adopt a particular technology there are challenges, but it's through investment and research over time that we improve the advantages and minimise the disadvantages.” “While renewable energy has an impact on the environment, it’s still much less compared to that of fossil fuels. It's crucial to educate the public on how renewable energy and its related transmission infrastructure can enhance their lives and the environment in the long term.” #GamudaAustralia #Gamuda #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery
