In coming together to celebrate NAIDOC Week, the Freo Group Head Office and Kwinana Branch staff had the opportunity to participate in an art workshop, where staff participated in hand murals and individual art activities. We have shared below some great photos of our team embracing this year's theme. Led by Harry Thorne, our National Manager for Indigenous Affairs & Community Relations, we were honoured to experience a Welcome to Country. In support of National Reconciliation Week 2024, Freo Group held a morning tea and launched our first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Our Reflect RAP will lay the foundations for Freo Group and our commitments to Indigenous Engagement and Participation across Australia through these key RAP focus areas of Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance.   Reconciliation must live in all Australians' hearts, minds, and actions as we move forward. We must create a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.   Freo Group is also participating in the Perth Reconciliation Week Street Banner Program. Our banner is located at Elizabeth Quay. Freo Group was approached to assist in correctly and safely relocating a Boab tree in Port Hedland for our valued customer. The tree had grown dangerously close to above and underground powerlines. Our Team assisted with several aspects of this operation, including the following: - Due to the tree's shape and weight, preparing it and placing slings for support is extremely important and challenging. Correct calculations are also required to ensure the tree is lifted without damage. - Vacuum excavation was used to expose the root base and carefully trim any interfering roots using a pole saw without damaging any of the Boab or its limbs, ensuring the tree can re-establish once replanted. - Once freed from its original spot, the tree was safely relocated to a new location. We deployed our LTM 1300, a 300-tonne crane, to tackle this challenge. Its substantial capacity was necessary due to the considerable distance between the setup area and the tree's location. We completed the task swiftly and precisely, ensuring the safety of both the tree and the surrounding infrastructure.
