Universal Robots has announced a major upgrade to its high-payload collaborative robots #cobots, the #UR20 and #UR30, allowing them to handle heavier loads. This enhancement aims to improve productivity and efficiency for existing and new users at no additional cost. The payload capacity has been increased to 25 kg for the UR20 and 35 kg for the UR30 when operating in the top lift position. This increase is particularly beneficial for palletizing tasks and similar applications, making the cobots more versatile for industrial use. Tero Tolonen, Chief Product Officer at Universal Robots, highlighted the company’s commitment to ongoing product development: “Our continuous testing allows us to unlock new features, and we ensure our customers can take advantage of these enhancements immediately. This upgrade enables greater productivity without extra costs, showcasing our drive for innovation.” The update requires no additional hardware purchases. Users can unlock the new capabilities by upgrading to #PolyScope software version 5.19 or later, a process that takes only a few minutes. Cobots shipped within 2024 will already come equipped with the updated software to support the higher payloads. Read more here about the increased payload for UR20 and UR30. https://lnkd.in/gQTfd6dd Enhancing the strength of high-payload cobots will boost throughput and productivity. Our project with CQUniversity “Unmanned Ground Vehicle Enabled Fruit Yield Prediction and Autonomous Harvesting” was successful in Round 3 of the Australian Government Department of Education's National Industry PhD Program. We will be partnering with Dr Zhenglin Wang and the team at the Institute for Future Farming Systems on this exciting initiative. We are grateful for this opportunity to develop #UGV robotics in Australian agriculture as, out of 143 applications submitted across a variety of research fields in this Round, only 48 research projects were awarded funding: - 21 Industry Linked projects - 27 Industry Researcher projects You can read about all the successful projects by downloading the full list here https://lnkd.in/gpAFZ7RE The National Industry PhD Program is designed to support PhD candidates in undertaking industry-focused research projects. This program aims to equip researchers with the knowledge and skills necessary to translate university research into commercial outcomes effectively. Our project aims to integrate use of unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) technology into both orchard imaging and harvesting technologies, with implementation of additional sensors and AI-driven computing, and to develop new capabilities in data harvesting and interpretation, e.g., in the creation of yield maps from harvester data. Through the automation of data collection and analysis tasks using UGVs, AI-driven computing, and cloud-based web app, the goal of this project is to provide usable tools to growers to optimize farming practices, improve resource allocation, and enhance crop yield and quality, by supporting informed decisions in a timely manner. We look forward to contributing to the advancement of technology in agriculture through this innovative commercialization activity. As the Science & Technology Australia TEM Ambassador for Bowen, our GM Amanda White PhD is particularly excited to see her work roles coming together. Thank you to the Department of Education and Central Queensland University for working to deliver an incredible opportunity to build an even better outcome for Australian growers.
