To end hunger in Australia, we must end food waste. It’s hard to believe that Australia produces enough food to feed everyone three times over, yet last year 3.7 million households struggled to put food on the table. Clearly, something needs to change. At Foodbank, we believe food belongs in bellies, not bins. That’s why we’re dedicated to reducing food waste while helping those in need. Last year alone, we sourced 92 million meals – a win for both people and the planet. 🌱 But we know Australia’s food system must change to end hunger and waste. That’s why we’re advocating for a National Food Donation Tax Incentive, a policy that could unlock an additional 100 million meals each year by 2030. This smart, simple solution encourages farmers and small businesses to donate surplus food, reducing waste and feeding those in need. We’re calling on the Australian Government to take action. With millions of Australians struggling with the cost of living crisis, there’s never been a more urgent time for change. #EndWaste #FoodWaste #EndHunger #Sustainability #NationalFoodDonationTaxIncentive #InternationalFoodLossAndWasteDay

Our Mission: deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient and effective way.
About us
Foodbank is a food relief organisation that partners with the entire Australian food and grocery sector to supply front-line charities nationally with the stocks they need to address hunger in the community. This involves working with farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers to source fresh and manufactured foods as well as personal and household items for those in need. Donations include stock that doesn’t meet industry specifications, is close to expiry or excess to requirements. Companies also make donations as part of their corporate social responsibility commitments and cause-related marketing campaigns. Foodbank supplies food and groceries to more than 2,950 charities and also provides regular breakfasts for students in 2,890 schools across the country. As a not-for-profit organisation, Foodbank relies on governments, individuals, organisations, community groups and thousands of volunteers to fight hunger.

We’re excited to welcome our new partner, Gallagher Bassett - Australia and New Zealand, as they join us in delivering vital food relief to First Nations communities across Australia. With their generous initial donation, we’ll be able to provide culturally appropriate food to those who need it most. And this is just the beginning – Gallagher Bassett is committed to building on this support with more initiatives in the coming months. This partnership is a key part of Gallagher Bassett’s Reconciliation Action Plan, and we’re grateful for their dedication to supporting communities in need. #ThankYou #EndHunger #ZeroHunger

Our friends at Foodbank SA & NT have hit an incredible milestone – distributing over 2 million kilograms of fruit and vegetables in a single year to people in need across SA and NT, free of charge. This milestone was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the South Australian Produce Market Limited , local growers, and more than 100 horticulture businesses. Together, they've helped Foodbank SA & NT reach over 150,000 people each month, including a third who are children, with fresh, nutritious food. It's a bittersweet achievement. While it showcases the power of partnerships, it also highlights the heartbreaking reality of hunger in Australia. #EndHunger #CommunitySupport #FreshProduce #FoodRelief

With more Australians facing hunger than ever before, relying on donations alone isn't enough. A steady, dependable food supply is crucial for those in need. That's why we're thankful to PepsiCo for their donation of 1.4 million servings of Quaker Oats to our Collaborative Supply Program. Openway Food Co. has also jumped on board helping us pack these oats into convenient 1kg bags. Thanks to the generosity of partners, we're transforming our 'surprise chain' into a reliable supply chain. #ThankYou #EndHunger

Hungry for Change? Australia produces enough food to feed the population three times over—yet 3.7 million households struggled to put a meal on the table last year. You have a unique chance to influence legislation that could turn this around. A Bill that would introduce a National Food Donation Tax Incentive is currently the subject of an important Senate Inquiry. This Bill is a huge step in the right direction, but needs a little tweaking to help it make an even greater positive impact. With your input, we can push for crucial amendments that will enable more farmers, food businesses, and logistics companies to donate food instead of wasting it—directly helping those in need. 🔊 Time is running out: The submission deadline is Tuesday, 20 August. We've made it easy for you—use our template to draft your response and make an impact. 👉 Head to: https://lnkd.in/gGiDKpYU #EndHunger #EndWaste
