[👋 Meet the team] We're so excited to introduce you to our new Director of Technology and Architecture, Strategic Clients - Darren Brice! Darren has served in technical leadership roles in different sizes of commerce businesses for 13 years, from SME-sized to an FTSE 100 retailer with a global footprint. Over the better part of a decade, he has served as an evangelist of OMS, designing and maintaining modern but pragmatic architectures and principles and helping to ensure that technology teams and solutions stay relevant to business needs. He also considers himself somewhat of an expert on Fluent Commerce, having led teams building on it, deploying it, and managing it across more than 600 brick-and-mortar stores, with multiple warehouses and drop ship suppliers covering multiple regions. We asked Darren to tell us a little bit more about himself and why he decided to join Fluent Commerce: "Technology can be complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. For the majority of my career, I have been focused on helping businesses unlock value from Technology investments and initiatives, at pace, but with solid foundations. Fluent Commerce absolutely aligns with those values, with an incredible composable proposition that can help businesses unlock value in weeks rather than years. It can be introduced into new and existing ecosystems, safe in the knowledge that the extensibility can fit with existing processes rather than business processes having to fit the tooling. My first initial weeks at Fluent have been great. I have received such a warm welcome from across the globe. I have shadowed in meetings, listened to Rob Shaw (VP/GM EMEA) evangelize about Fish Finger sandwiches, spent time with the team in London, and had the luxury of time to absorb lots of information. I also had to open the front door to receive the delivery of Fluent swag. Outside of work, balance is important to me. I have been fortunate enough to travel large parts of the globe over the years, but really appreciate the beaches and the countryside that are near to where I live. I still like to explore my passion for technology outside of work, mainly through smart homes/IOT, and I use it to solve problems I never knew I had! I'm a bit of a coffee snob, too, and friends/colleagues associate me with the occasional attempt at karaoke. I have also recently started playing a lot more board games which help to keep the grey matter occupied and away from a screen."
