Last week Dr Wayne Harvey, Chair of the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation (AMRF) and Tori Best had the privilege of meeting Dr Carly Whyte, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre of Cancer Biology at the University of South Australia. As an early career researcher, Carly's focus is to gain further understanding on how the immune system recognises and responds to cancer, with a particular focus on our largest organ, skin. Each year the AMRF awards a number of research grants to emerging Australian researchers with a focus that includes melanoma. Fish Nankivell is a proud supporter of the AMRF, with a percentage of fees being donated to a range of charitable organisations. We chose the AMRF as a tribute to the late Greg Fish, cofounder of Fish Nankivell, who sadly lost his battle to melanoma at the age of just 39. We are truly blessed to have inspirational and passionate scientists like Carly in our midst. In the past 10 years the survival rate of melanoma has improved from a 10% chance of surviving advanced melanoma, to 50%. We are making progress. #cancerresearch #colloboration #givingback

We were thrilled to be invited to this morning's event held at the Melbourne headquarters of Shaw and Partners. Collaboration comes in many forms, and today was no exception. Through the sharing of connections, and by facilitating introductions, meant one of our regular charities, Fitted for Work became the beneficiary of a $20,000 donation from the Shaw and Partners Foundation. Fish Nankivell is committed to making a difference, and as such we pledge a percentage of all retained fees to a group of selected charities, including Fitted for Work. Thank you Lisa Taranto for nominating this incredible organisation as your chosen benefactor, and for hosting us this morning.
