Flexibility at work is important, but it’s not enough to just offer it and assume it works the same for everyone. People’s needs are different depending on factors like gender, race, disability, and caregiving responsibilities. This is where intersectionality comes in. For some, flexibility might mean being able to stay in the workforce instead of having to leave. For others, it could help balance work with cultural practices or managing health issues. If we don’t consider these different needs, even the best flexible work policies might miss the mark. What a very special night after a very special season! We were thrilled to present the Sydney Theatre Company and Canberra Theatre Centre production of Joanna Murray-Smith’s JULIA to sold-out and adoring crowds, starring Justine Clarke and Jessica Bentley and directed by Sarah Goodes. The cherry on top was the former Prime Minister, Julia Gillard AC, attending our final performance. We were thrilled to present this in partnership with the University of Adelaide as part of their 150th Anniversary Program.

The thing about privilege is that it is often invisible to those who have it. 🤔Having privilege doesn't mean you are born rich or that you haven't had to work hard, it just means there are certain things in life that you don't have to think about. 👣When we reveal these hidden privileges, we start to understand how the gaps that exist, in the economic, educational and health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, are formed. 🫱🏾🫲🏻Understanding your privilege is one of the most powerful things you can do as an Ally because once you understand your privilege, you can start putting it to good use to help Close The Gap. #Privilege #CloseTheGap #CulturalAwarenessTraining #AllyTraining

What is the state-of-play for people with disability and employment❓ Our recently released Disability Data at Work guidelines, developed in partnership with the Australian Disability Network, shows: * People with disability are more likely to be locked out, overlooked and under-leveraged in employment than people without disability, and * Once in employment, people with disability are less likely to report being connected, treated fairly, and experience far more everyday exclusion compared to employees without disability. We know that accessing meaningful employment can increase well-being, access to services, financial security, and a sense of belonging for people with disability. Equally, unlocking employment opportunities for people with disability can increase innovation, profitability, and market opportunities for organisations.
