We are consulting on mandatory guardrails to promote the safe and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Australia. Our proposals paper outlines options for introducing mandatory guardrails for AI in high-risk settings - a major step towards regulating AI. The consultation aims to ensure that the proposed guardrails: - are fit for purpose as AI technology evolves - reduce the chance of harm - give businesses greater regulatory certainty to drive AI adoption across the economy. We’re keen to hear your feedback on these proposals. Make sure you have your say by Friday 4 October: http://spklr.io/6047tLVU #AIAustralia #ArtificalIntelligence #ResponsibleAI #AusTech

National AI Centre and Fifth Quadrant have released the Responsible AI Index 2024. The report shows how Australian businesses are tracking with their responsible AI practice, adoption and maturity. Read more below 👇🏽 #AIAustralia #ArtificialIntelligence #AIDevelopment #ResponsibleAI
Our new report produced with Fifth Quadrant shows that Australian business needs guidance on AI adoption. The Responsible AI Index 2024 details how businesses are tracking by evaluating the adoption and maturity of their responsible AI practices. While most organisations believe their AI systems align with Australia's AI Ethics Principles, less than a third of those surveyed have implemented the necessary practices to achieve that ambition. There is a gap between perception and practice. Organisations leading in responsible AI practices are more likely to have business leaders (CEOs, board members, owners) driving AI strategy, ensuring strategic oversight and accountability. For these organisations, there is a greater appreciation of the competitive benefits that responsible AI practices offer, including reputation, innovation, operational efficiency and talent acquisition. AI standards and Australia’s AI Ethics Principles are influential, and small and medium businesses need more support to adopt responsible AI practices.
