  • The Australian Government has launched the Small Business Cyber Resilience Service to help small businesses strengthen their cyber security defences and bounce back after a cyber incident. The average cost of a cybercrime is $46,000 for small businesses. This service helps small businesses with the right tools and knowledge to combat their cyber security risks. The free service is for Australian small businesses with 19 employees or less, including sole traders. It is delivered via a helpline run by experts at IDCARE, a national, not-for-profit service specialising in cyber support. You can call the Small Business Cyber Resilience Service helpline on 1800 595 170 or submit a request through IDCARE’s website. To find out more about the Small Business Cyber Resilience Service and how to access it, visit business.gov.au/SBCRS. #CyberSecurity #SmallBusiness #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #SmallBizAU

  • In Queensland, severe weather can hit at any time, and being prepared is crucial. Research shows that businesses who plan ahead recover faster than those relying solely on external help. From securing your premises to training your staff to have an emergency kit on hand, every small step counts. Business Queensland’s Small Business Disaster Hub and Get Ready Queensland offer valuable resources to help you get and stay prepared. Follow these three steps to get ready: ✔️ Understand your risk – know the potential weather impacts in your area and how they could affect your business. ✔️ Make a plan – create a business emergency plan so your employees know what to do. ✔️ Pack a business emergency kit – include first aid and survival supplies, protection equipment and gear, emergency contact list for employees, key suppliers and clients, and copies of important business documents. Start planning today to protect your business and your team when disaster strikes. 👉 Learn more: https://brnw.ch/21wO5h1 👉 Download the business continuity plan template: https://brnw.ch/21wO5h0 #StaySafe #SmallBusiness #GetReadyQueensland

  • This week we held the inaugural DESBT Awards ceremony to celebrate the exceptional talent and impact of our people who have gone the extra mile. The awards recognised outstanding individual and team achievements across the department, in different but equally important areas – from field officers, data analysts and program managers through to policy, strategy and corporate teams and so many more. There were 98 employees nominated across 7 categories, celebrating our innovation, customer service, collaboration, leadership, our ability to drive positive change in the community and our commitment to building safe, healthy and diverse workplaces. And this year it went to Grant Stidiford, Regional Director, Far North Queensland. 🏆 We also recognised milestone years of service – of which there are many, including 15 people who celebrated more than 40 years of dedicated service to the Queensland Government.
