Our Resource and Environmental Regulation Deputy Director General Andrew Chaplyn was recently at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) 2024 Conference in Norway as part of a WA delegation. “This was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our global relationships and engage with stakeholders around our own priority areas, including carbon capture utilisation and storage, decommissioning, decarbonisation and emerging technologies,” Andrew said. “I found it valuable to see many other countries on the same path as us and how we can benefit from collaboration and sharing our different experiences.” Thank you to CODA - Centre of Decommissioning Australia for hosting the WA booth at the conference and for arranging several site visits, allowing the delegation to see the maturity of Norway’s industries in these areas. Andrew joined other WA representatives from Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and the Invest and Trade Western Australia UK office.

We are proud that another valued DEMIRS team member will participate in the 2024–25 Public Sector Commission's Women in Executive Leadership Initiative. Brooke Eddington has been appointed as Director of Project Coordination and Reporting for Energy Policy WA as part of this initiative, which aims to support talented women in building the necessary skills to take on senior positions in the public sector. It’s one of many initiatives we are involved in to help foster a diverse and inclusive department that reflects our WA community. Not only does Brooke bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position, but she is also passionate about playing a vital role in WA’s energy transition. Congratulations, Brooke! We can’t wait to see what you achieve.
