Our CEO Roberto Scenna was in Canberra yesterday to meet with our exceptional frontline teams and key partners. Joined by Marnie Fletcher (Chief Member and Growth Officer) and Khara Williams (Head of Lending Distribution), they had the pleasure of meeting Beck Rayner (Military Life), Stephanie Elliott and Alysia Smith (Customer Owned Banking Association) as well as our teams from our Russell and ADFA branches. It was a privilege for Rob to get a first-hand look at how our people serve our members with dedication and commitment to the Defence Bank values.

27 June is PTSD Awareness Day. We refer to "PTSD" a lot when speaking about the Defence Community Dogs Program. We know how effective DCD Assistance Dogs can be in assisting and disrupting a Veterans PTSD’s stress and anxiety symptoms, and providing ongoing support for mood, depression or anxiety. But what is PTSD? Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a set of reactions that can occur after someone has been through a traumatic event, and can include: - repeated intrusive, distressing memories or dreams - poor sleep patterns - avoidance of reminders associated with the trauma - negative mood and thoughts following the event, - agitation and negative changes in behaviour. Symptoms may develop immediately following exposure, although it is also common for people to have a gradual increase in the range and intensity of symptoms. The onset of PTSD can sometimes be sudden and dramatic - presenting as a 'breakdown' occurring some time after exposure. It is really important for veterans suffering from PTSD and their support people to seek help.
