When someone doesn't want to talk to you, how do you respond? If someone seems hesitant to talk when you ask, "R U OK?" it’s important not to take it personally. Give them time to process, and focus on what they’re comfortable discussing, like specific behaviours or changes you’ve noticed. If they still don’t want to open up, suggest they reach out to someone they trust. Let them know you’re there if they ever want to chat, or that they can turn to family or friends. Following the suicide of my husband focusing on mental health became non-negotiable for me - not just in terms of my own wellbeing, but that of my family and friends, and of course in trying to raise awareness more widely. I have the good fortune to be speaking with the CEO of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Tobi Wilson tomorrow for RUOK day, which has prompted me to reflect on the key messages we need to be communicating around mental health. For me it starts with building the right foundations for personal wellbeing. After 6 years collaborating on all things leadership, culture and strategy I’m excited to share that I’m starting a new position as Regional Partner at Corporate Edge heading up the Wollongong Office. Running Thrive Executive has been an incredible experience, but as anyone who has been a solopreneur knows it can be challenging not having a strong team around you. The Corporate Edge team are amongst the best people I've ever worked with - talented, interesting and caring. Not only that, they bring a level of combined capability and capacity that I simply can't replicate on my own. The opportunity to partner at a regional level gives me a chance to the expand the impact I can have. I am so grateful to the clients I have had the opportunity to work with through Thrive, and I look forward to working with you into the future. This is not the end... Also excited about the prospect of making new connections. :-) Louise Connor Phil Allison John Colbert Dan Czura Sarah Robertson Rosemarie Dentesano Kaitlyn Durgali Lisa McMaster Eliza Diniakos Monique Riddell Ted Johnson

Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness 💪 By opening up, we create space for others to share their struggles too. With 1 in 5 people aged 16 to 34 reporting high or very high levels of psychological distress, starting a conversation could make all the difference. This R U OK Day, let’s embrace vulnerability and ask those around us, "Are you OK?" R U OK Day – 12th September 💛 Learn more at buff.ly/3TlbUWQ
