Story Dogs is making a big difference in our community by helping primary school children to learn how to read. But, to appeal to a broad range of reading interests, they needed an extensive collective of books – that’s where the support of one of our Healthy and Connected Community Grants came in. If you have an amazing idea but need funding to bring it to life, applications are now open for a range of community grants – learn more and apply at 👉 geelong.link/grants

Get ready…we’re very excited to announce in partnership with the Geelong Regional Library Corporation that the Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library is opening its doors to the community on Thursday 1 August. The GRLC is busy completing the fit-out and stocking more than 30,000 new books and resources. Designed by Buchan Architects and built by Nicholson Construction, the new library is in the heart of the Armstrong Creek Town Centre precinct. In addition to the extensive collection, the library will feature a children’s story time area, outdoor terraces and multipurpose and creative spaces – including media studio and maker space, all available for the community to use and enjoy. Biyal-a’ (pronounced Be-al-a) is a Wadawurrung expression reflecting the surrounding valley-scape and its watercourse as a place of many red gums. We contributed $20.364 million to the new facility, while the Victorian Government contributed $1.5 million via a Living Libraries Grant.
