Our Chung Wah Terrace project, on one of Palmerston’s busiest roads, has been successfully delivered, resulting in some satisfied residents and road users! 🚧 🚦👏 BMD partnered with the Northern Territory Government Department of Logistics and Infrastructure to build a new roundabout at the busy Chung Wah Terrace and Emery Avenue intersection in Palmerston. This was a result of our approach to traffic management, ensuring smooth flow and traffic safety, while maintaining easy access to properties, and keeping pedestrian pathways clear! BMD has successfully completed major works on Brisbane Airport’s legacy runway! After carrying out three months of highly specialised work, our team has delivered the upgraded section of the runway. Working in an airside environment with planes soaring overhead was no small feat, but our expertise in aviation and collaboration with Brisbane Airport Corporation, GHD and all our partners ensured zero turbulence. ✈️ The project involved replacing 18 cracked slabs at the end of the runway which were originally installed in the 1980s. During delivery of the upgrade, BMD shortened the runway from 3.5 kilometres to 2.7 kilometres, requiring powerful teamwork with Brisbane Airport to program wide-bodied and international flights to use the adjacent new parallel runway. 🤝 At BMD, we pride ourselves on fostering strong, collaborative relationships and our partnership with Brisbane Airport exemplifies this commitment. Following receipt of the coveted Roads Australia Promise, Passion and Pursuit Award, BMD Graduate Construction Advisor Will has hit the ground running as he develops pilot program and industry research policy piece to support young professionals in the civil construction industry. On a recent visit to Komatsu Australia, Will undertook a series of interviews to gain an insight into the experiences of new industry entrants. The information collected will be used to develop a program to better meet the demands of future projects and boost productivity across job sites and the industry at large. Building up the wins in the NT! 🏡🏆 Congratulations to our Zuccoli Village team for securing the Social and Community Infrastructure, and Overall NT Project of the Year awards at the UDIA NT Gala and Awards for Excellence evening! The development is representative of the BMD Group’s difference in our integrated offering with it being a joint venture partnership between the Northern Territory Government’s Land Development Corporation and our property development business Urbex Pty Ltd, our design arm Empower, and our contracting business BMD Urban, all working in collaboration. This award recognises our expertise in the delivering of housing for the Territory, while leaving a positive impact within the community through essential infrastructure and natural open spaces. This master-planned community has now achieved a total of four UDIA Awards for Excellence within eight years. BMD has made significant strides in the water and wastewater sector, where we have focused on #acceleratingaction across our approach to sustainability, innovative techniques, and community engagement.   During the Australian Water Association’s #NationalWaterWeek, we’re sharing just some of our achievements: 🌊 Innovative infrastructure: We’re constructing a vacuum wastewater pump station for the Riverlea development in Adelaide, which involves complex engineering challenges and providing future-focused solutions. 🌊 Social responsibility: BMD’s ‘Squeaky Clean’ team raised over $26,000 in WaterAid Australia’s Winnovators program to improve water access in Papua New Guinea, demonstrating our commitment to global water security. 🌊 Engagement and education: We welcomed numerous school and community groups through site tours and programs, including an International Women’s Day site tour on the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline (a design and construct joint venture with McConnell Dowell) where a group of young female students were inspired to think of a career in construction. 🌊 Industry leaders: We got involved with the industry and showcased our expertise at the OzWater’24 Conference.   #NationalWaterWeek2024 #AcceleratingAction #BMD #WaterSustainability #Innovation

To mark Safe Work Month, BMD’s team at Springfield Greenbank Arterial, who are building infrastructure opposite the Brighton Homes Arena, kicked off their day with two special guests from the Premiership-winning Brisbane Lions AFLW team for their morning prestart. 🦁🏉 BMD’s Switch On program is a critical part of pre-start each day, where our crews are led through warm-up exercises and stretches specific to the physical demands of the job. Not only does the program assist in physically switching on and minimising the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, but it also mentally prepares the team for the day ahead. Switching it up during Safe Work Month, Key Defender Jen Dunne and Midfielder Forward Lily Posthlewaite put our team through their paces with an AFL-inspired warm up. The team tackled a range of warm up stretches, passing drills and a game of kick tennis. The duo also shared some of their tips and tricks they use to prepare for training and on game days. Watch out for BMD Environmental Coordinator Clare as she makes her mark at the NAWIC VICTORIA Awards for Excellence as a finalist in the Emerging Leader Award! 🌟 Clare’s passion for environmental sustainability, along with her commitment to diversity and inclusion, has made a significant impact on the projects she has been a part of: Hawkesdale Wind Farm, Thurra River Bridge Replacement, and Barwon Heads Road Upgrade. Through her role in BMD’s Regional Inclusion Working Group, Clare has driven initiatives that have led to more inclusive uniforms, a culturally sensitive calendar, and revised role titles that embrace gender neutrality.
