BIG W was recently honoured to receive a Children's Hospital Foundation Hall of Fame Award at an event to celebrate 10 years of care for Queensland kids. Since 2003, BIG W has raised more than $5.5 million for the Children's Hospital Foundation (CHF) – helping to transform countless little lives at Queensland Children's Hospital. In that time, funds raised through our stores have been directed towards: 💙 Transforming the oncology waiting room with lounge areas, a digital display wall, a play area, and local artwork to create a comforting space for families 💙 Refreshing the wig library to help young cancer patients cope with hair loss during treatment with dignity and confidence 💙 Funding a part-time oncology psychologist role for two years to address the increased mental health needs of young oncology patients and their families 💙 Funding the MINDRAY TE5 ultrasound machine to make cannula insertion less painful and reduce anxiety for young patients. For the last two decades, BIG W has proudly supported CHF with direct donations and appeals in our stores. We are committed to this ongoing partnership and thank our customers and team for the fundraising efforts over the years to improve the lives of sick children and young people. Thank you to Courtney Palmer Victoria Shipp Michael Stoikov Rebecca Burton and our decicated store team members for driving this partnership.

We've been busy working on something BIG! We are excited to launch our new clothing basics range in store and online following an extensive 18 month journey of customer, industry and quality research. Rather than shying away from our customer pain points when it came to fit, we chose to face feedback head on and work collaboratively to create 82 new and improved designs across our men's and women's ranges. Celebrating the launch of our new range we've partnered with Mamamia to address some of our customers clothing pain points through social and podcast content launching this week. New creative with M&C Saatchi Group AUNZ also features billboards popping up across the country depicting poorly fitting clothes, as we encourage customers to try out one of the new products in a humorous way. At BIG W we believe that finding your perfect fit or style doesn't have to be difficult and we're excited to invite our customers to shop their family's basics all year round. #bigwaustralia #bigwclothing

BIG W is priviledged as part of our partnership with Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation to have supported the creation of a designated breastfeeding room at the hospital. Having environments that enable parents to breastfeed is a key factor in breastfeeding success. We hope this new space removes barriers to breastfeeding and helps families visiting the hospital feel more comfortable. Thank you to our team and customers for the support of fundraisers that have helped fund this important project. Our team recently celebrated another year of partnership and the milestone of raising $550,000 for WCHF over the past 4 years. #wchf #realcare 💙

We're thrilled to share that our Big Whopping Toy Sale token fundraiser has surpassed its target, raising over $250,000 for hospitals and research institutes across the country! BIG W is pleased to also donate $100,000 to the appeal. Funds raised will support our partners at Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF), Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), Children's Cancer Institute, Perth Children's Hospital Foundation and Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation. Charlotte Reindler from Melbourne designed one of the tokens this year and was supported by Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) after she was born with multiple defects in different parts of her heart, and in the first few years of her life underwent many admissions to the hospital. Thanks to progress in medical care, she has undergone a minimally invasive heart procedure and avoided open heart surgery. Charlotte’s artwork celebrates her love of nature, filled with bright colours. Thank you to our team for driving this fundraiser and our customers who have given with heart to make a difference for families.

Meet Woolworths Group’s Aimee Wills a merchandising leader at Brisbane’s BIG W, Mount Gravatt, and proud Kukatj Tribe member. Aimee, who started her career with Woolworths Group 17 years ago, celebrated NAIDOC Week with her State Manager, Courtney Palmer, North 1 Area Manager Rina Gibbons and fellow BIG W team members at the Logan City event held at the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct in Queensland on July 9. For Aimee, NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the culture, spirituality and rich history of First Nations peoples. “NAIDOC is a way of showing all the beautiful and creative sides of our culture and steering away from the stereotypes,” says Aimee. “Being able to ground and surround ourselves in the art, culture and people is an amazing experience to connect and share it with mob and allies from all over.” Coming from a First Nations family, Aimee says she’s proud of how far Woolworths Group have come in making a meaningful contribution for future generations and driving our employment roadmap forward. “Woolworths Group has particularly made a movement within the workplace when it comes to our BIG W and Woolworths Group First Nations Gathering meetings,” she says. “I love the continuous support from the higher leadership team, who take the time to attend our meetings, have a yarn with us about our ideas and give us the opportunity to be creative within the Group.” Read more about Aimee’s story here https://lnkd.in/gra-sKsC

We're pleased our Bluey toddler helmet has been recognised as one of the safest in the market, according to a new star rating system being introduced by Jo Haylen, NSW Minister for Transport. The families shopping with us love them too!

We've had ANCAP safety ratings for cars since the 1993, now we're bringing the same crash-test system to helmets. It means you can grab a helmet from a bike shop or BIG W and have confidence it'll keep you or you kid safe. Our new star-rating for helmets has even found that a higher price doesn't necessarily mean it's any safer – this $22 Bluey Toddler Helmet from BIG W was found to be one of the safest on the market! 65 helmets have been tested so far with more on the way, so you'll start seeing star-ratings pop up when you next go helmet shopping. 👏 And good work Bluey and Bingo 🐶🐶
