Our revolutionary partnership of four brands to create more exposure for river cruising in Australia held its first events yesterday with two celebrations at the Langham Hotel in Sydney. The River Cruise Collective served up a delicious high tea, followed by amazing wines and canapes at the gorgeous Langham Hotel Sydney for 150 eager consumers, proving that competitors can work together and create big benefits for all. The key takeaways: 1. Our Cruise Passenger audience is a powerhouse of luxury travel consumers, and everyone present had come to chose a cruise. One guest told me he was looking for his 117th! 2. Having four lines in the same room was a huge plus for consumers, who came from far and wide precisely because it was so unique. And competing yet complementary cruise lines can worth together to win new customers. 3. All four cruise partners - AmaWaterways, Avalon Waterways, Uniworld and Tauck - had strong interest and converted sales! 4. We intend to hold a series of similar events for our readers, who expressed a strong desire to learn more about cruise products from us, their independent and trusted voice, alongside cruise experts like those who have joined the River Cruise Collective. As an experienced news journalist, fascinating to assess the coverage of the Bondi attack tonight. What on earth are the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) thinking with a 7pm program in NSW that was shamefully light weight. Where were the senior journalists? Perhaps they don't take phone calls after 5pm...Then back to usual programs from the BBC as if nothing significant had happened. Meanwhile it's 7.55 and Nine are still absolutely nailing it with exclusive interviews with the brothers who saved the baby and the death of the baby's mother. Hope Kim Williams is watching and assessing. And who is advising the NSW Police Commissioner? The Federal Police Commissioner and her own officers all fronted the cameras well before Karen Webb...and when she did, it was a long time before she congratulated her officer for taking down the killer. She entirely missed giving the heroes of the day a pat on the back. Personally I love that the brand is taking an ‘animals first’ perspective in this campaign. For me as a vegan of 28 years who’s passionate about animal rights, I find it poignant and heartbreaking. My fellow vegans and animal activists will probably feel similarly. But it’s helpful for those of us working in the impact space to know whether we’re telling the right stories (and this image tells a story) in our communications to effect change in the people we’re targeting (in this case, not other vegans or vegetarians). 👉 So, I’m curious what others who eat meat feel when they see it. Does it make you reconsider your choice to eat meat? Does it shock you? Or annoy you? Or nothing?
