You will join the small team to provide for the children in a program which aims to meet 75% of the children's dietary needs while they are in attendance. The vision for a Continuous Voices memorial has become clearer, with Ballarat City Council endorsing the designs for the much anticipated memorial for survivors and victims of sexual abuse at the June 2024 Council meeting. The Continuous Voices memorial is anticipated to be a place for continuing stories, healing and hope, and has been designed by Amass Architects with Ben Juckes. The architects were selected through a competitive design process which engaged the Ballarat survivor community and relied upon research projects developed by the Creative City Ballarat team within the City of Ballarat. The No.2 Oval at Marty Busch Reserve has recently undergone a multi-faceted upgrade that has seen new lighting installed, the playing field resurfaced and a new turf cricket wicket introduced to replace the former concrete-base wicket. Have you seen the designs for the fun new play space as part of the Bridge Mall redevelopment? 😍 In a nod to the bridge, which spans the Yarrowee River flowing underneath the mall, the new play space is designed to resemble a bridge-like form resting on a river bank landscape. The bridge section of the play space features a multi-storey net climber, platforms, slides, a rope bridge, cubbies and nooks. The play space will be a key drawcard for families and carers, providing playful adventure for children. It will also feature: ◼ Play pod spaces for little ones or those with social or sensory sensitivities ◼ Sensory play, textural panels and sensory surfaces ◼ A firefighter’s pole and a curly climber-rocking rider ◼ Peep holes and recessed displays, animal sculpture trails and a story nook ◼ Seating and spaces for families including a large timber deck and ◼ Program and performance spaces with an informal stage and amphitheatre. The play space, which will be located near the Drury Lane entrance into the mall, will start to take shape in the coming weeks, with footings to commence installation shortly. The play space will be safe and secure for children. The mostly see-through design provides easy supervision for parents and carers while a garden bed, bollards and a barrier will protect children from vehicles on the carriageway. 👏 The 2023/24 Community Impact Grant Program has concluded with a strong round two of applicants. We are thrilled to announce that 14 applicants were successful, with a total of $71,991.12 being allocated. The City of Ballarat recognises the great work undertaken by our community groups, clubs, and organisations to create a healthy, connected and inclusive community, and how funding through the Community Impact Grant Program has helped.
