We are proud to share that we are phasing out plastic bread tags across the country.   In doing so, we’ve been able to donate almost 55,000 plastic bread tags to the Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs charity, based in Robe, South Australia.   Instead of ending up in waste, the tags will be recycled locally, raising funds to buy wheelchairs for disadvantaged people.   What happens to the tags? Local recycling business, Transmutation, will recycle the tags into boards, pens and bowls, like the one pictured below!   Melissa Owen, Bakers Delight Area Manager for South Australia, was able to donate the bread tags in person to Jenny Cooper, from Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs, and also got to see one of the final products.

October was another big month of achievements with the opening of three new bakeries within the span of just six days!   Cheers to Wayne Price for the opening of Bakers Delight Montmorency in Victoria last Thursday. The bakery sits at the centre of the bustling Were Street shops in Melbourne’s north-east. Wayne took over his first bakery over 30 years ago and continues his incredible journey with now 12 bakeries across Victoria.   Also last Thursday, the ovens fired up at the new Bakers Delight located at The Ridge Shopping Centre, Toowoomba, Queensland. A big congratulations to franchisee Duncan Carter on the opening of his second bakery in the area.   On 19 October we celebrated the opening of Bakers Delight at Park Beach Plaza, the largest shopping centre in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. Congratulations to our franchisees Bharat and Saru Adhikari for the opening of their seventh bakery, after eight years with Bakers Delight.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re proud to shine a light on our long-term partner Breast Cancer Network Australia and the incredible work they do to ensure all Australians affected by breast cancer get the very best care, information and support following a diagnosis.   Partners for almost 25 years, with over $25 million raised since our very first Pink Bun campaign back in 2004, together we’re making an impact.   #breastcancerawareness #togetherforbreastcancer

Bakers Delight have supported BCNA through their partnership since BCNA’s inception in 2000. Marking nearly 25 years of collaboration, Bakers Delight’s support has been vital in ensuring we can support the 58 people diagnosed each day with breast cancer. BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti says “The generosity of the whole Bakers Delight team, year-after-year, is overwhelming, without the support of the franchisees across Australia and their communities, BCNA would not be here to provide the information and support Australians need as they navigate their breast cancer journey.” Thank you Bakers Delight for your unwavering support, we are so grateful to you. ‘Let’s Talk About It’. This Mental Health Month we’re proudly supporting Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) throughout regional bakeries in NSW to raise awareness of mental health, challenge the stigma around it and encourage help seeking in rural and remote communities. As a business that relies on agriculture, we’re truly proud to help communicate the importance of rural community members seeking help for their mental health and wellbeing when they need it. Reach out to the people around you and have a conversation about mental health, or get in touch with RAMHP to find out how you can support your community or workplace to improve their mental health.

The Bakers Delight community keeps growing! We are delighted to announce the opening of two new bakeries for the month of September.   Congratulations to Brennan and Emily Mihalec for the opening of Bakers Delight Taylors Hill, at Taylors Hill Village, Victoria. Brennan and Emily began their journey with Bakers Delight back in 2006 and currently own two bakeries, including Yarraville Coles.   Cheers to Renu Gehlot and Krishan Dahiya for the opening of Bakers Delight Thornlands, located at Paradise Gardens Shopping Village, Queensland. Renu and Krishan, franchisees since 2015, now have four bakeries in their portfolio, also owning the Ballina Fair, Mt Gravatt and Yeronga bakeries.   We wish you all great success and a delightful future ahead. The teams are ready to ‘roll’, bringing you delicious, freshly baked bread each day.

Great news from our friends at Breast Cancer Network Australia last week with the life-prolonging drug Enhertu now officially part of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for people living with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer.   This targeted therapy could transform treatment for around 1700 people each year. The financial burden is also significantly reduced, with the cost of treatment now dropping from $10,000-$15,000 every three weeks to just $31.60.   "Until now, Enhertu has been out of reach for most people due to its extreme cost,” said Kirsten Pilatti, BCNA CEO. “This is an incredible example of the strength of our network and ability to achieve real and significant change. Without our foundation partner Bakers Delight, who have supported BCNA from our inception, our continued efforts to be the voice for all Australians affected by breast cancer would not be possible.”   Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gR7NzRBz

Supporting the community can take many different shapes and forms. For the team at Bakers Delight Kyabram (Victoria), it means helping both their local and global community. Instead of sending excess stock of our campaign aprons to landfill, Liza Curtis and her team collect them, have them converted into carry bags and then sell them to customers. The money raised provides income for the local seamstress as well as a community sewing group in remote East Timor. #community #baking #kyabram #social

What a great start to the new financial year, with two brand new bakeries firing up the ovens and spreading the delight this month. Congratulations to Sagar and Lativa who successfully opened Bakers Delight Bannockburn (Victoria) last Monday and had a very successful first week. This new site is located in the rapidly growing residential region north of Geelong and with some extensive expansion on the cards for the shopping centre, the bakery is set to benefit from some significant local foot traffic well into the future. Further north, we also recently celebrated the opening of Bakers Delight Maryland (NSW). This new site is located in the booming greater Newcastle region and is bakery number two for Franchisee, Kylie. Kylie and her partner Justin pulled out all the stops to get this bakery open on time and judging by their first few weeks of sales, Bakers Delight Maryland is set for some exciting years ahead. With some significant network growth planned between now and 2030, these are the first of many new bakeries to come, so watch this space! #franchising #business #growth
