It’s been another record-breaking year for pro bono. Our 17th Annual Performance Report of the National Pro Bono Target reveals that Australian lawyers reported 781,596 hours of pro bono work in FY24. That's an 11.5% increase from last year, with an impressive 39.6 hours of pro bono service per lawyer, well exceeding the 35-hour target. In FY24, the Target signatory cohort reached 330 signatories, up from 286 signatories in 2023, welcoming new law firms, in-house teams, and individual solicitors and barristers. "The results we've seen this year from the National Pro Bono Target reporting confirm for us the contribution of pro bono legal services to the broader access to justice landscape in Australia." Gabriela Christian-Hare, CEO, Australian Pro Bono Centre. Watch the video below, as Gabriela Christian-Hare summarises the key findings of this year’s report.
