Connecting Australia to a healthier future
About us
Tasked with improving health outcomes for Australians through the delivery of digital healthcare systems and the national digital health strategy for Australia, the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) commenced operations on 1 July 2016. Better use of data and technology can help people live healthier, happier and more productive lives. Digital health can make a real difference to people’s health by giving them greater control and better access to information. The Agency has a lead role in national engagement, delivery and uptake of digital health in Australia to support and enable a contemporary, connected healthcare system, accessible to all Australians and embraced by all healthcare professionals. The Agency partners with healthcare professionals, industry and governments to drive and provide digital technologies across the health ecosystem and engages with healthcare consumers to improve their healthcare journey, with a focus on access and equity for those who need it most. Established as a statutory authority in the form of a corporate Commonwealth entity, the Agency reports to State and Territory Health Ministers through the COAG Health Council. It's National Carers Week – an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the 3 million Australians providing unpaid care and support to their family and friends. According to the Carers Australia's latest Carer Wellbeing Survey, carers are more than 3 times more likely to report high levels of loneliness compared to the average Australian. The survey also found that carers with good support from friends and family are 55% more likely to have healthy levels of wellbeing. Here are some ways we can help the carers in our community: 📲 check-in regularly 🍵 offer a break 🎁 acknowledge and appreciate 🤝 initiate support 💕 encourage self-care For more information, visit carersweek.com.au Carers Australia #CarersAustralia #NationalCarersWeek #ShowThemYouCare
This National Carers Week and we’re excited to release the results of the latest Carer Wellbeing Survey! 📊 We’ve been measuring the wellbeing of carers each year since 2021 through the nationwide survey, in partnership with the University of Canberra 🤝 A big thank you to everyone who took part in the survey - this year we had our biggest response yet with over 9,000 entries! The survey helps us to understand the changing needs of carers, their wellbeing and how quality of life is changing over time, so carers can be better supported into the future 🙌 Unfortunately, carers consistently report much poorer wellbeing and quality of life outcomes. For example, in this year’s survey we found that carers are more than three times more likely to report high levels of loneliness compared to the average Australian 😔 However, the survey also found that carers with good support from friends and family are 55% more likely to have healthy levels of wellbeing ✅ From these results we can see just how important it is for carers to feel supported. Do you know a carer? One way you can show your support is to check in with them regularly. You could encourage them to talk if that’s helpful to them, listen and recognise their efforts, and validate their feelings without judgement 🫶 This is just one way you can show them you care this National Carers Week – check out the website for more tips on how to support carers 👉 carersweek.com.au You can also check out the full report on the Carer Wellbeing Survey on our website 💻 https://lnkd.in/grAvHnZc #ShowThemYouCare #NationalCarersWeek #CarersAustralia
