Our Corporate Plan 2024–25 has just launched. It sets out our strategic direction and performance goals, and how we intend to deliver against our purpose over the next four years. The Corporate Plan spells out our key activities and performance measures – the nuts and bolts of what we do – and explains the environment we operate in, how we manage our enterprise risks and how we are strengthening our capabilities through our Integrated Transformation Program. We are committed to improving the sustainability of agriculture, fisheries and forestry, working with First Nations people, strengthening our capabilities and delivering forward-looking policy advice. The corporate plan is complemented by our Statement of Strategic Intent, which tells our story with an overarching vision on how we will deliver our work. Together, they clearly articulate who we are, how we work internally as One DAFF, how we work with our stakeholders and partners, and how, together, we’ll realise our vision. Our farmers are making the most of higher livestock prices and more favourable seasonal conditions across large parts of the country. The latest Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) industry updates released today forecast a 4% lift in Australian agricultural production value to more than $86 billion in 2024-25. Combined gross production value for agriculture, fisheries and forestry is expected to exceed $91 billion this financial year. Export values across the portfolio are forecast to dip slightly on the record last 2 years due to less carryover stocks of grain available for export, but still be the third highest on record at $72.6 billion. Average cash incomes for broadacre farms are forecast to increase by 64% to $192,000 per farm in 2024-25. While the overall numbers are positive, it is important to recognise not all farms in all regions are expecting to see an improvement. Crop production across Australia has been driven by New South Wales and Queensland, and better than expected seasonal conditions in Western Australia. But unfavourable conditions in north and western Victoria, and most of South Australia following below average winter rainfall, have resulted in lower-than-expected crop production. ABARES is expecting continued strong export demand for Australian food and fibre. Red meat exports are performing well in the US and Middle East. We’re also seeing increased trade flows with China across various commodities, following improvements in market access. 👉 See the Commodities report here: https://brnw.ch/21wMhL1 👉 See the Crop report here: https://brnw.ch/21wMhL0

Eight new long-rotation softwood plantation forests will be established, thanks to $5.65 million funding through the Support Plantation Establishment program. The successful round two projects bring the total number of grants awarded under the program to 27, worth $15.72 million. The $73.76 million program supports the establishment of new long-rotation softwood and hardwood plantation forests in Australia. The program aims to assist the sector to respond to the projected growth in demand for domestically sourced timber resources, while also contributing to meeting Australia’s carbon emission targets. The grants are open to private industry, First Nations businesses, farm foresters and state and territory government forestry bodies. Round three is expected to open soon. Stay tuned to our channels for further details. For more information, visit: https://brnw.ch/21wMgkm

‘Other goods’ to Singapore is now live on NEXDOC. ‘Other goods’ exporters and agents now must use our new export documentation system, NEXDOC, to obtain their export certification for Singapore. ‘Other goods’ refers to products including: - processed foods, ingredients, and beverages - edible vitamins and supplements - animal feed and feed additives - fertilisers - shells. We are working to continue to improve our digital services to make trade easier for Australian exporters. Exporters can now lodge a Request for Export (REX) in the new NEXDOC system to receive their export certification faster and easier. Manual certification for ‘other goods’ to Singapore is no longer available. To ensure your consignments can continue to be exported to this market, make sure you have registered in NEXDOC.
