Houses has always advocated for the ways that good design can shape the way we live. The current issue is no exception, and it has been a pleasure to talk with architects and homeowners who share ideas about resisting excess, finding beauty in economy, and the benefits of environmentally responsive and responsible design. On the cover is Draped House by Trias. Small, site-responsive and efficiently planned to minimize its carbon footprint, it is a welcome antidote to many of the new homes that proliferate in our suburbs. It is one of many resourceful and inventive projects in the issue that do a lot with a little. Huge thanks, as ever, to the many writers, photographers and architects for contributing. If you haven't seen the issue yet, pick up a copy or subscribe. https://lnkd.in/gJG6W4ah

'Yarning circles are a modern invention and a highly valued feature – and for these reasons, they need to be released from rigid assumptions that shackle innovative interpretations and applications. What can be done to make their inclusion meaningful?’ - Carroll Go-Sam. Another fantastic contribution from Carroll Go-Sam in the Nov/Dec issue of Architecture Australia, where she asks 'Are yarning circles the new decal?' and provides five recommendations for anyone designing them.
