With peak storm season on the way, our partner NTI is encouraging transport and logistics operators to take practical steps now to protect their teams and operations. Even a quick check on some basics can make a big difference. Here are some essentials to review: Update your Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and make sure it’s shared with your team. Back up critical data. Stock emergency kits with torches, first aid supplies, and water. Run a quick evacuation drill and double-check emergency contacts. NTI has a Flood Mitigation Guide and a Guide to Developing a BCP available for free. Take a look and make sure your team is prepared. Today, we’re throwing our support behind the RailFail campaign as families, advocates, and supporters call for safer rail crossings and improved train visibility in rural Australia. This campaign, backed by the Australian Trucking Association, the National Farmers' Federation, and championed by country music icon Lee Kernaghan, brings attention to an issue our rural transport operators encounter all too often. Let’s push for the safety changes that our road users need.
Today marks the official launch of the RailFail campaign and our families are honoured that Australian country music legend Lee Kernaghan has made a star appearance to throw his support behind us. We're launching RailFail to highlight the appalling standard of train visibility and rail crossing safety in rural and regional Australia...and to ensure governments and rail corporations fix the issue once and for all. We are 12 families who have come together to fix this ridiculous situation after losing loved ones in rail crossing crashes around Australia. We're also backed by incredible supporters, including the National Farmers' Federation, the Country Women's Association of WA and NSW and the Australian Trucking Association. Lee Kernaghan has strong personal roots in the road transport industry and with rural Australia. Lee's father, distinguished country music singer Ray Kernaghan, was a truck driver and owner operator for many years. As Lee says, 'it's unacceptable that there is still no legal requirement for trains to be lit to a particular standard in Australia and it's high time the government legislated mandatory train lighting standards.' Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Lee. Take it away mate! 🎸🇦🇺 #RailFail
