This week, an article in the Telegraph caught my attention with the headline "Britain skies to be blanked by drones within three years." It made me reflect on past promises like drone-delivered pizzas that haven't quite materialized yet. Interestingly, cities globally are gearing up for widescale drone delivery, with our regulators, Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Airservices Australia, betting big on it. They have forecast there will be over 60 million drone flights per year in Australia by 2043, with the predominant function of drone delivery. To put this into perspective, there are about 600,000 commercial airline flights in Australia each year, and an estimated 22 million commercial airline flights worldwide.
