Not the news we were hoping for. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has left interest rates on hold at 4.35%. From the RBA: “Inflation has fallen substantially since the peak in 2022, as higher interest rates have been working to bring aggregate demand and supply closer towards balance. But inflation is still some way above the midpoint of the 2–3 per cent target range. In underlying terms, inflation was 3.9 per cent over the year to the June quarter.” The next RBA meeting will happen in early November, so we have another six weeks before there’s any hope of a rate decrease.
