Biography

“I enjoy meeting and helping people. Medicine has allowed me to help many people and work with smart, energetic colleagues. Medicine and hematology-oncology remain very challenging but also very rewarding.”

Dr. Levine is board certified in hematology-oncology (cancer and blood disorders). He is an assistant professor at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute and has been board certified in hematology for more than 25 years.

He has clinical interests in anemia, thrombocytopenia (abnormally low levels of platelets in the blood), leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Additionally, Dr. Levine is skilled in treating patients with myelodysplasia (a group of disorders caused by blood cells that don’t work properly), myeloproliferative neoplasm (a group of diseases in which the bone marrow makes too many red blood cells, white blood cells or platelets) and bleeding diathesis (the tendency to bleed easily).

He has been drawn to hematology since medical school and is grateful for the support of mentors who have helped him along the way.

Dr. Levine received his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed residency at Thomas Jefferson University and a fellowship in hematology-oncology at George Washington University.

Outside of work, Dr. Levine and his wife raised 3 children. They like to travel, visit family and stay active with tennis and hiking.
