🌟 REEEP is thrilled to welcome PHILIMON KAMANGA as our new Senior Analyst! “As a young boy growing up in a village in Malawi lacking basic clean energy services, I felt a deep motivation to play my part in eradicating energy poverty".                  Philimon harnessed this drive to pursue a career in the #RenewableEnergy sector, bringing over a decade of experience focusing on off-grid projects in rural sub-Saharan #Africa. At REEEP, he'll play a key role in advancing the development, implementation and monitoring of the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) and lend his expertise to other REEEP initiatives.         Before joining us, Philimon was the Renewable Energy Projects Coordinator at SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) and has worked with esteemed organisations including Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Self Help Africa. 🚀 REEEP made our debut at the European Forum Alpbach this year! Our Senior Development and Partnerships Officer, Alexandra Chupina, took part in a dynamic panel on “New African-European Ambition: Ways Forward in Energy, Climate, and Tech,” hosted by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung. Alexandra highlighted REEEP's innovative solutions that are driving the adoption of #cleanenergy technologies in frontier markets across #sub-Saharan Africa. The session, expertly moderated by Simon Ilse, explored how Africa and Europe can collaborate to advance the green #energytransition and ensure #sustainable development. From 2006 to 2023, PFAN celebrated the remarkable achievement of over USD 3 billion in #investment leveraged by PFAN-supported projects and businesses. 🌍 Explore REEEP’s essential role in the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) in our Annual Report 2023! BGFA was established in 2019, building on Sweden and REEEP’s successful, award-winning pilot in #Zambia, the Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia. Today, BGFA is a multi-donor facility aimed at expanding BGFZ’s approach into new sub-Saharan African countries and kickstarting markets for clean #offgrid energy. BGFA aims to establish 1.7 million #energy connections, benefiting more than 8.6 million people in six sub-Saharan African countries by 2028. REEEP’s work on the programme primarily involves market scoping, funding window design, shadow evaluation, due diligence and technical assistance.
