𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 - 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 You may not want to believe it, but there are other joining technologies besides lasers 😱. If you look at the technology distribution in robot welding, you will see that laser welding only accounts for around 18% 🤔. In addition to spot welding, with approx. 29%, arc processes still have the largest share. The various processes in this technology group together claim approx. 36% of the total volume 🤩. Depending on the industry or component, process monitoring is also an issue with these technologies. This is exactly where our #processobserver comes into play 😎. Thanks to fibre-based integration 💡, our system can also be installed in such systems. Online process monitoring is therefore within reach. Download it now. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 & 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠! We are excited to announce that our expert Tyson LOWDER nLIGHT, Inc. will be speaking at the upcoming LANE Conference. 📅 Date: Tuesday, September 18th 🕒 Time: 11:10 AM 📍 Location: Fürth, Germany As lasers continue to be adopted in additive manufacturing (AM), cutting, and welding, users often encounter limitations in productivity due to available laser beam shapes. To overcome these constraints, innovative, all-fiber beam-shaping technology has been deployed in fiber lasers that serve a wide power range of 500 W to 20 kW. Significant improvements in build rates and material properties have been observed when applying ring beam shapes to AM-developed metals, such as Scalmalloy®, and for hard-to-print materials, such as H13 tool steel. In metal cutting, beam-shaped lasers can process a wide quality range of materials, improving workflow and reducing cost. In welding, beam shaping has proven to significantly reduce spatter and porosity, while improving weld uniformity and productivity. We present recent results for several applications demonstrating the distinct advantages of laser beam shaping and its economic impact on modern manufacturing. https://hubs.li/Q02MvXtX0 #LANE2024 #laser #laserevents #photonics

𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 Today we are looking at a method of weld seam testing that was discovered as early as 1851 by the French physicist Leon Foucault: eddy currents. This was preceded by the discovery of electromagnetic induction by the English scientist Michael Faraday in 1831. Development did not stand still and David Hughes, an English scientist, proved that the properties of a coil change when it comes into contact with different materials and conductivities. The first eddy current measuring device for sorting ferrous materials was developed by Prof. Friedrich Förster in 1933. Since then, the #technology has continued to develop and is now an integral part of the world of non-destructive testing. Eddy current testers utilise the principle of magnetism. If a probe is positioned close to a metallic test part, the alternating magnetic fields of the probe generate eddy currents in the test part. These eddy currents in turn generate their own magnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic field of the coil. Inhomogeneities in the material such as cracks or corrosion change the amplitude of the resulting magnetic field, among other things. This changes the electrical impedance of the coil. These changes are recorded by the test equipment and used to analyse the test part. High-frequency eddy current devices can be used to detect defects in ferritic weld seams. The advantage of eddy current testing is that cracks can be detected through layers of paint. This exciting #technology is now used in numerous industries where even the smallest defects can pose a risk.

The aim is to make processes as efficient and loss-free as possible. With modern environmental strategies, companies are endeavoring to make these manufacturing processes environmentally friendly and sustainable. #3D-printing technology is one of these methods. It can be used to produce very complex components in particular, which would often be impossible using conventional manufacturing processes. The CLASCO project is dedicated to precisely this manufacturing process, with the aim of structuring the surfaces of the components in a specific way and thus enabling new application possibilities in high-tech areas. Process monitoring will be an essential component of the future system. On the one hand, this will monitor the process and, on the other, provide efficient data for AI-based process control. Together with an infrared camera, our #processobserver will fulfil this task. You can watch the first results of the interaction between these different technologies at any time in the CALSCO webinar series on YouTube: https://hubs.li/Q02J_ydj0 We are delighted to be part of this great consortium and look forward to further teamwork. nLIGHT plasmo European Commission Innovate UK #manufacturing #innovation #DigitalTransformation
