The "Queen's Proclamation" was a written charter, prepared by Victoria, the Queen of the Great Britain, and read by Lord Canning, the first Viceroy of India on November 1, 1858.
The charter officially transferred the authority over the Indian territory, previously enjoyed by the East India Company, to the British crown
