The City of Los Angeles’ Mayor Karen Bass has announced the appointment of developer Steve Soboroff to serve as the new Chief Recovery Officer to spearhead its response to wildfire disasters that destroyed over 12,000 structures in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena earlier this month. Soboroff, who in the past had been criticized for the environmental impact of his massive Playa Vista development on the city’s Westside, will be responsible for "recommending a comprehensive City strategy" and coordinating the now expedited rebuilding process for those in the affected areas.
He will also create an "all solutions in" resource-sharing system for commercial and residential rebuilds, in addition to a "detailed program" that covers the city's public libraries and parks systems.
In a brief statement, Soboroff said: "Our mission is to start building a clear, practical and doable path to the Palisades and everywhere help is needed in LA."

Every action Bass takes is a depressing punch to the gut. Hate this for LA.
I can't say I had high hopes for Bass, don't think Rick could have done any better though. And his foaming at the mouth over this whole thing is a really gross look to me.
Of course, it would have been much much worse with Caruso. Doesn't affect my opinion of her.
What's the objection to Soboroff? I met him through his work for the Weingart Foundation and he seems like a great leader and decent human. He has extensive connections within the Palisades as well as a ton of experience in development and construction. Strikes me as close to a perfect person for the role.
Rick who?...... edit: Nevermind.
Will have to get my head around who these folks are as we go. I personally have more issues with that Trump clown. Anyway, kind of remotely immersed this week on the matters going on down there and also the stuff relating to LA Co. and LA City.
not you Rick. haha
I figured that out but took an extra moment.
Janosh, that's nice to hear. I don't know anything about him, my disappointment is really just that Bass appointed someone from the private sector. No one in LA likes developers, maybe the one thing uniting renters and home-owners. I should for sure look into him more, maybe I'll report back.
Communists are good at one thing — creating new departments with vague objectives.
I see. Are the communists in the room with us right now?
