  Kids will enjoy this entertaining, adorably illustrated, rhyming book about the course of one day in an ant's life. After a brief nap, the ant in the story stumbles upon a human picnicking in a country setting. Looking for food, of course, the ant gets caught up in the human's backpack and ends up in the city. The ant assesses his surroundings and works hard to get home. When the ant finally sees his uncle, he knows that he has made it back home to his colony by evening. Lesson learned. Throughout the story: great illustrations, facts about ants, entertaining story. Themes: what to do when you are lost, decisions that can put you in a pickle, keep trying to get home, understanding danger. Highly recommend.
