I really enjoyed The Brothers of Redemption, the first book in Diana Murray's Technium series. And I'm happy to tell you that A Daughter of Her People is even bigger and better. We get to find out more about the characters, we get to find out a good deal more of what happened to our civilization, and we get to travel across much of the old United States in a beautifully drawn portrait of the lands--deserts, prairies, the eastern mountains and finally to the place where we began, the ruins of New York a 130 years from now.

We CARE about what happens to Jed and Max, the Brothers, to Hannah, the Daughter, because Murray is so good at writing about people, their loves and joys and sorrows, weaknesses and strengths. They're often inspiring and sometimes disappointing, they're strong and they have a few weak moments, and especially, they endure. In other words, they're real human beings...

You could try to fit A Daughter of Her People into some or another category, "dystopian science fiction," "A quest," "An alt-history future," but for me, it's just a beautifully written and enjoyable novel, and I highly recommend it.

I do recommend reading Brothers of Redemption first, though other reviewers have said this one stands alone all right. But these books are so good, I say, just buy and read them both.
