Our Partner and National Head of QRM, Khurram Bhatti, was invited to participate in a panel organised by the Forum of Firms, Emirates Association For Accountants & Auditors (EAAA), and IFAC. Is your company’s board aware of their legal duties and responsibilities? A company’s board of directors is the primary driver of effective corporate governance, and staying informed is crucial. Today, at the first day of our 3-day intensive Board Diploma Programme, we had the privilege of being joined by Dr. Roshanak Bassiri Gharb and Rebecca Hilton from Clyde & Co, who provided insights into corporate laws and board liability in the UAE. Their colleagues Damian Wright and Khaled AlMulla then engaged participants in a practical case study focused on corporate investigations. We were also fortunate to have our partners from Grant Thornton - UAE. Darren Yule and Mohsin Liaqat Ali, CPA, CGA, Canada and FCCA UK sharing their expertise on financial reporting, auditor collaboration, red flags, and major board failures. Salmaan Khawaja wrapped up the session with his insights on the board’s role in Mergers & Acquisitions, leading participants through a detailed case study on company valuation and buy/sell decisions.
