Today, Ambassador Fredrik Florén attended the opening of the Sharjah International Book Fair 📚, hosted by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. The Embassy is showcasing "Between the Lines" exhibition (in Arabic and English) from November 6th to November 17th, highlighting literature's profound impact on society. This exhibition features esteemed Swedish 🇸🇪 authors and literature professionals sharing their insights on the significance of literature. 🇸🇪 Ambassador Floren comments on the cultural exchange between Sweden and the UAE: "Our countries share many similarities. Both home to about 10 million people with diverse backgrounds, we nurture great storytellers. Sweden’s best-known literary export is Astrid Lindgren’s beloved collection of children’s books, which has sold 150 million copies worldwide. Notably, Lindgren was an avid reader of Arabic literature, including A Thousand and One Nights, which inspired her to write Mio, My Son." The exhibition is also presenting information about the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), given annually to honor outstanding contributions to children’s and young adult literature. This week, 🇸🇪 Ambassador Fredrik Florén, along with Head of Trade and Promotion Mr. Olof Boström Jackman and Promotion Officer Ms. Josefin Persson, visited GITEX GLOBAL Largest Tech & Startup Show in the World. The team visited the global communications technology-leader #EricssonMEA and met with new President - Market Area Middle East & Africa Mr. Patrick Johansson, President Ericsson - GCC Mr. Nicolas Blixell and Country General Manager - UAE, Mr. Ekow Nelson and team, discussing the company’s operations and opportunities in the UAE. Ericsson is advancing #6G technology in partnership with e& UAE and signed a partnership, during #GITEX, focusing on joint research and technical collaboration to drive the evolution of 6G. The initiative aims to define 6G standards and use cases, supporting the UAE’s goal of enhancing digital connectivity and accelerating technological progress. They also visited #Swedish company Furhat Robotics, which is partnering with e& UAE at this year's event. Furhat Robotics founded in 2014, manufactures social robots that enable human-like interactions through conversational AI. With more than 20 robots on display, they showcased the latest advancements in this field. The Ambassador received a briefing from Furhat Robotics team, including CEO and Co-Founder Samer Al Moubayed and Regional Manager Middle East Marcus Petersson, and its operations serving clients across various sectors such as research, healthcare, hospitality, education, and retail. #SwedeninUAE #PioneerthePossible

Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, 🇦🇪 Minister of State for Foreign Trade, alongside a delegation of excellent Swedish companies thriving in the dynamic UAE market, Trade Commissioner Massoud Biouki, and Cecilia Carlswärd, Chairman of Swedish Business Council in the UAE (SBC). H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi engaged in a productive discussion with the #Swedish companies. The meeting covered the company introductions and background stories in the #UAE, discussions about the vibrant business environment in the country, and potential areas of cooperation and opportunities for Swedish businesses in the UAE. Valuable insights were shared, and the session concluded with a Q&A with the Minister. Sweden maintains a strong business presence in the UAE, with more than 200 companies operating here. The UAE also serves as a vital hub for Swedish businesses across the Middle East, Africa and beyond. This year, the Swedish Business Council in the UAE (SBC) celebrates its 30th anniversary, while the Trade and Invest Council, 'Business Sweden' has been established in the UAE since 2006. During the meeting, Ambassador Fredrik Floren highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Sweden and the UAE, emphasizing the substantial and growing trade between the two countries. He underscored the competitiveness and cutting-edge quality of Swedish companies, and that Swedish expertise is well-positioned to contribute to the UAE’s ambitious clean energy goals and #AI investments.
