Today, Ambassador Fredrik Florén attended the opening of the Sharjah International Book Fair 📚, hosted by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. The Embassy is showcasing "Between the Lines" exhibition (in Arabic and English) from November 6th to November 17th, highlighting literature's profound impact on society. This exhibition features esteemed Swedish 🇸🇪 authors and literature professionals sharing their insights on the significance of literature. 🇸🇪 Ambassador Floren comments on the cultural exchange between Sweden and the UAE: "Our countries share many similarities. Both home to about 10 million people with diverse backgrounds, we nurture great storytellers. Sweden’s best-known literary export is Astrid Lindgren’s beloved collection of children’s books, which has sold 150 million copies worldwide. Notably, Lindgren was an avid reader of Arabic literature, including A Thousand and One Nights, which inspired her to write Mio, My Son." The exhibition is also presenting information about the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), given annually to honor outstanding contributions to children’s and young adult literature. We look forward to welcoming you at our stand: 📍 Hall Number: 1 📍 Section: Arabic Section 📍 Stand Number: Z-20 & Z-21 #SwedeninUAE
