Big 5 Global, the premier and construction industry event in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA), will return for its 45th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 26 to 29. The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has announced that it now hosts over 400 wealth and asset management firms, including 44 hedge funds in the "billion-dollar club." DIFC has also unveiled plans to establish the DIFC Funds Centre, set to open in early 2025, which is designed to support hedge fund spin-offs, fund platforms, and boutique firms by providing a flexible environment and fostering networking opportunities for industry professionals. The UAE’s GDP reached AED 430 billion in the first quarter of 2024, according to preliminary estimates issued by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC). These figures reflect the strength and vitality of the nation's economy, demonstrating its continued ability to achieve sustainable growth. In Q1 2024, the country's real GDP grew by 3.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023, while non-oil GDP increased by 4 percent. We’re pleased to announce that we have signed a strategic partnership with noon, the local digital champion, to launch a pioneering e-commerce program aimed at supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai. This partnership is part of the broader D33-announced Dubai Traders initiative, which aims to empower Dubai-based SMEs by providing them with the necessary digital tools and channels to scale both locally and globally. The UAE's tourism sector continues to record remarkable performance in international tourist arrivals and hotel bookings. In 2023, the tourism sector contributed 11.7 percent of the UAE’s GDP, totalling AED220 billion, and is expected to rise to 12 percent or AED236 billion in 2024, according to figures from the World Travel & Tourism Council.
