To celebrate World Tourism Day 2024, and its focus this year on ‘Tourism and Peace’, our Sustainability team organised an event at the dnata Travel Centre in Dubai’s Business Bay, offering our colleagues and visitors a host of responsible travel tips to consider for their next trip. This included a focus on slow travel, based around travellers taking more time to explore the history and culture of a destination, whilst supporting the local environment. Our team at dnata Travel is reporting a 21% increase in the average booking value for its in-store services this year, driven by a rise in demand for more complex travel itineraries. Walk-in services at its 13 retail outlets across the UAE remain the most popular way for residents to book travel, with its popular Dubai Hills Mall store witnessing fastest growth. Multi-location trips across Europe and Asia are proving popular, while high demand for cruising from Dubai Harbor is anticipated as the GCC cruise season approaches. Our CEO, John Bevan, delivered the keynote speech at this year’s annual Hotelier Maldives GM Forum. As one of the top producers of room nights to the Maldives, this covered latest dnata Travel Group insights into global travel trends to the islands in 2024. With its resorts continuing to add more extensive facilities and entertainment, and with families recognising its increased affordability as a holiday destination, the Maldives is becoming increasingly attractive to a range of customer segments beyond the ‘honeymoon’ market, with more opportunities possible in attracting solo or groups of travellers. Our customers are opting for longer stays, and seeking meaningful experiences, such as culinary adventures, cultural immersion, or wellness retreats. The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority hosted a FAM trip this summer in collaboration with our team at dnata Representation Services, taking ten UAE-based travel agents across top sights of the beautiful island country of Mauritius. Along the way, our group stayed at the incredible resorts of our partners in Mauritius including the luxurious Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa, and Sugar Beach by Sunlife on the white sands of Flic en Flac, and the all-inclusive haven of Club Med La Plantation d’Albion, amongst other unique and spectacular resorts around the island. Trip highlights included the spectacular Chamarel waterfall, adrenaline-pumping activities at La Vallée des Couleurs Nature Park, and food and helicopter tours of the island. Thank you to our partners for creating such a memorable experience for our teams to bring back latest information and inspiration to UAE travellers.

At GEMS Education’s annual induction event this year, attended by 1,850 new teachers arriving in the UAE, several of our brands exhibited as part of a new partnership. Our teams at dnata Travel, also representing our partners at Club Med, alongside City Sightseeing Dubai and Arabian Adventures showcased special offers now featuring in the GEMS Rewards programme, designed for its community of students, parents and staff. Arabian Adventures also highlighted its range of Educational Trips, including a Dubai Wildlife Safari and Overnight Camp. Our team at dnata Travel in the UAE travelled to the paradise islands of the Seychelles with Tourism Seychelles this summer. With an itinerary thoughtfully crafted to showcase the island country’s diverse offerings, our teams explored unique, luxury accommodation options across the islands, and attraction highlights including a scenic ferry ride to Silhouette Island, a trip to the vibrant Victoria Market, and engaging tours of cultural landmarks.
